I'm feeling a little hungry so I walk over to the fridge and open it. I take out the milk, pop it open and take a long drink. As I'm drinking, I notice my milk begins to look a little strange. I can see something in the milk that looks a lot like...marshmallows. I decide that cereal might be a better idea and I put the milk away. I take out a box of Frosted Flakes and pour myself a big bowl. As I'm pouring, I look down at the flakes a little puzzled by the flakes now turning into tiny insect legs. Pouring them into the bowl, I take a little bite and my mouth becomes filled with the taste of insect innards. Biting the rest of the cereal in one big crunch, I spit it out in my plate, filling it with the remains: carapaces, legs and mandibles [1].

I look over at my dog like, what the hell! But as I do, I realize it's not my dog anymore. My old dog has been replaced with a giant fluorescent orange slug. I jump out of my seat and back away a step. It's not looking at me, but rather humming a tune, rubbing the many bumps on the sides of its body and occasionally flicking the tip of its tail from side to side...

I turn and run out of the kitchen. The slug starts running after me. I run for the front door. Running through the house, into the garage and out the garage door, I keep running, out into the street. I see two other dogs running towards me, blocking the exit. I stop running and consider my options.

I look over at the two dogs and back up a bit, then stand my ground. The two dogs stop walking forward, but now keep their distance, one on each side. I can hear the slug behind me munching the Frosted Flakes cereal, crunching and chewing, crunching and chewing. It's running after me. I can barely breathe I'm so stressed. I look over my shoulder, it's not far back. I look at the dogs. They are still near me not coming over to me. Now the slug has reached me. I'm looking forward at him, he still has more cereal in his mouth and I can see its legs flailing around inside his mouth as it picks up speed. I look at the dogs again and back up slowly. As I do I start to feel the strange sensation of cold, ice cold tingles inside of my Spine, the place where I twist my head around to look behind me. I can feel them getting closer, hear the slurping sounds they make as the Slug continues on its way. I back up again and I see the dogs start coming up to me. I back up once more and I am now up against the fence. The dogs continue to inch forward, but stop a foot away from me. I close my eyes and I hear a slithering sound as the slug passes just inches in front of me and right next to the dogs. I open my eyes and I am breathing heavily, I can still feel the cold tingles up my spine and the sound of the slug eating cereal in my ears. I turn around and I see it's gone.

All of a sudden there are two more dogs approaching. I take a big breath and I'm ready to fight, when I realize they are my parents dogs, Brownie and Pooch. Now I'm completely relieved. My parents have arrived to save the day. I run over to them, I run past them and I head in for the kitchen for that good old protein bar. And as I enter the kitchen I walk by the slab of bacon sitting on the counter, realizing I didn't know before, but now I do, that bacon is alive!
