You are the Prophecy

It was on a spring day in the Renaissance Era. The sun was warm over Florence Italy. In the gardens there, there, bright birds chirped while carrying on their business. Above the city, the sky was blue and the air was crisp. The city's citizens walked about with their jobs and family in hand, enjoying the pleasant weather.

At the center of the city, there was a special spot known as the 'Piazza della Signoria'. In this place, there was an ornate marble fountain known as the 'Tempio di Giove'. This circular fountain was situated in the center of the piazza's main plaza. In the center of the fountain, there was a statue of the God Jupiter, a large statue that was positioned to overlook the city. There were side statues of various creatures from Greek Mythology at the four corners and around the circular platform of the fountain. Along with the Roman God Jupiter, there were also statues depicting a Chimera and a Minotaur, representations from Greek Myth that were meant to protect the city.

There was a small shrine near the fountain with an intricate statue of Saint andrea. A statue of the saint holding the scales of justice in his left hand and a sword in his right. In the shrine, there was a group of priests praying in front of this statue. In front of the statue of Saint Andrea, was a young man dressed in fatigues of a soldier. This young man was pacing around in concern. The young man was six feet tall and had rugged features. He had short golden blonde hair that framed a handsome face. His eyes were a piercing forest green as he walked back and forth in his pacing. The young man wore a golden breastplate over black clothes. His pants were a dark brown with silver tips and a green sash belt around his waist. He was wearing boots of dark brown leather as he stood and waited.

The young man's name was Dante. Dante was a soldier of Florence, during the time of the Renaissance. Dante was just a normal man who lived within Florence with his family. Dante worked as a warehouseman for a merchant during the day and to defend the city of Florence at night as a protector of the city from outsiders. He was well known throughout the street and the public acknowledged him for his job as a soldier and his dedication to the family name.

The problem with Dante was that the people of the city admired the efforts of their protector but they always saw him as a naive and innocent man. They could never imagine that Dante was more than that. That he was actually one of the world's most powerful warriors.

Dante was a prophesy. He was the last hope for humanity. He was a warrior, a hired angel. He was one of the guardians. He had been sent to Earth by the heavens to protect the realm of existence while it was in its most vulnerable state. The Knights of the Realm had been fighting to keep the destroyers of the world at bay. But now they were being hunted down and exterminated by the very beings they were trying to protect the world from. Millions of years of fighting had taken its toll on the holy warriors and now they were silently falling towards their impending deaths.

It had been a few months since the creatures of evil had gained an upper hand during the battle of power over the three realms. It was the year of 1466 A.D. The monsters of the world now controlled the war of the gods. They had killed or banished most of the gods from the gods' realm . Now that the realm of gods had no gods left, the monsters began to feast among the humans, in their birthplace, Earth. To the humans, they don't seem like anything but monsters and they certainly don't behave like human beings . They don't even appear to be scared of their fate and when the human realm was in danger they don't even fight back. They just take their fate in their hands and surrender to death.

The gods had tried to hide the truth of the situation from the humans but the monsters have invaded the realm and the humans now know everything. This means that the gods are in a state of complete desperation. Therefore the gods are sending soldiers as sentinels to hold back the monsters at the most important time of their lives, their human form. This is why they view Dante as naive. It is also why the humans' respect him so much and want to protect him like a god.

The gods had underestimated the power of the monsters. The monsters had managed to capture them all. They've wiped out most of the godly army and now they are in a state of chaos. They are losing the battle of power and the humans are now facing their own wipe out.

The gods are at a loss for what to do. They don't have an escape from their powers that the monsters have. They've used their powers for so long that they have their own weaknesses. That rule is the same for all beings except humans who are, by magnitudes, stronger than the gods. However . . . the gods need devout followers to build their army again.

"Sir!" Giotto said, walking to the statue. He reached the statue and gave Dante a glance. Giotto was a well known priest within St. Peters church. He was in his early twenties with a youthful look.

Dante turned to the priest. He sighed in relief. He faced the priest and gave him a half smile.

"Are you all right?" Giotto asked walking closer to Dante.

"No." Dante said, looking around. He continued his pacing. "Nothing's ever normal lately." he said, his voice low with a slight air of worry. "The monsters don't stand for this and they are all over the city."
