The most popular profession in Pakistan is begging. The educated population of other countries dreams of getting a good job after completing their studies, dreaming of a house and a luxurious life, while the educated group of Pakistan wants to beg abroad with a visa and live a luxurious life in the country. While the eternal enemy India is sending its large population abroad by making them skilled, the Pakistani government is exporting skilled beggars abroad. Pakistani beggars go to Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq to beg. 90 percent of the beggars arrested in these countries are Pakistanis. In 2024, Saudi Arabia sent about 34,000 Pakistanis back to the country for begging. The Pakistani government has canceled the visas of 100,000 people for being involved in begging and suspended the licenses of the agencies through which these beggars went.
Pakistani beggars are going abroad with pilgrim visas to Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq. Japan is the new hotspot for their begging. Not only abroad but also in the country, organized begging business has become quite popular. In a country of 230 million people, there are 38 million beggars. According to statistics, the average daily income of beggars in Karachi is Rs 2,000, in Lahore Rs 1,400 and in Islamabad Rs 950. The Pakistani government has said that the average daily income of a beggar in the country is Rs 850.
