Bad News Overpowers Good News. Do you still Appreciate the Good One?

Corruption. Murder. Poverty. You could make a long, long list and not even one item goes unchecked. Look around you. How much of reality is bad? How much is good? Most importantly, how much is good do we appreciate?

Ray Williams wrote in his column entitled Why we love bad news

Media studies show that bad news far outweighs good news by as much as seventeen negative news reports for every one good news report.

Even people who don't watch television or read newspapers are getting hit with nuggets of negativity through social networking and informal conversations. What's more, it seems that people are more responsive to bad news than goods ones.

Tom Stafford said in his article Psychology: Why bad news dominates the headlines.

People respond quicker to negative words... We are also able to recognize negative words than positive words.

Honestly, who could blame us? People are bound to react to the pressure of bad things than the prospect of good things. Some, even I, would call it survival instinct. Further, Williams said that we tend to get more fearful than happy. Thus, we are hard-wired to look for the dramatic and negative, and when we find it, we share it. People often have sad thouhts than happy ones. We work ourselves up emotionally and become much more likely to make unwise decisions. However, those do not mean that we are not aware of the good around us.

Yet, the question remains: how much of the good do we appreciate?

You could start answering that question with yourself. If you are to weigh the good and bad thoughts with a balance scale, which would be heavier? Be brutally honest. No gray areas. Don't worry. I'm sure you wont be alone with your results.

Okay don't stop there because you're not done yet. Set aside the bad ones for the moment and pat your back for the good ones. Now that you identified the good things you have, remember that knowing and appreciating are two different things. So another question arises. Do you appreciate the good?

Being hard-wired for the dramatic qnd negative doesn"t have to mean all we see and understand are the faults and flaws. It doesn't have to speak for what we think about the gay and positive. It's okay to be sad and fell bad as long as you know you could also be happy and feel good. Be the young boy/girl in the story and love what little light each star radiates.

I'm not saying you live in a bubble and isolate yourself from the bad. Rather, try to live in a house with clear glass windows where sunshine could pass through and wake you up from a bad dream.

You're not a bot but you are a bot! Does that mean you're a bot, or bot?

Lmao. Really, Im not a bot. :)

Maybe, the answer is that the bad news triggers awareness, so we pay more attention to it. We like to know where bad things happens to avoid that places. Good news just a good news, it is just fun to read it.

How about those good news that trigger awareness also? :)
