Do not attach importance to what you do not have. Some everything turns into a joke, others everything into something serious. To each thing they give more importance of the account, turning in dispute that which was not it. Many great things become small, and dissolve themselves, if you do not heed them. Other small ones become big by paying them much attention. Take into account that it will always be easy to finish something that begins, but after it takes time, it is difficult. Many times the disease is the same remedy, if you let it heal itself. It is often good to let go, let go.
Baltasar Gracián,The Art of Prudence
Often we give more importance to an insignificant fact than to what really matters, as with some people, we give greater importance to people who do not merit such interest on our part and forget those who deserve it, this is in itself a double-edged sword, first because we neglect the truly important things, which makes us fail directly, and secondly, because we can create a real problem that later means our ruin, everything to turn smaller issues into something relevant. Although repetitive I will again quote Gracian:
Know how to play the scorn card. It is the most political form of revenge. Because there are many individuals of whom we would have known nothing if their distinguished adversaries had not noticed them. There is no worse revenge than forgetfulness, for it is tantamount to burying those who are worth nothing in the dust of their own nothingness.
This means that it is best to ignore that which does not deserve our attention.
