RE: FREE SPEECH. A SHORT HISTORY AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME AND YOU.

in #writing8 years ago (edited)

I believe that freedom of expression it's based on a superior form of citizen, one who is not afraid to say what he thinks about being judged, and one who is not afraid to listen to him who offends him for discrepancy.

We must learn to be tolerant, be truthful tolerant people, to be able to hear someone say something that we do not share, that offends us, and that at most is wrong, and still respect their different way of thinking.

Thank you for your comment @viera, I agree with you 100%. Freedom of speech rights were not created for popular speech but for the speech that the majority disagrees with. As a society, it is a slippery slope to say this is ok, that is not. whether we agree with the speech or not. Some of the greatest ideas were quite unpopular in their time. Free speech is a tool for growth, without we stagnate and die. I believe.
Thanks again for your wonderful comment.
Cheers!
