Glossary Supplement
- abári – (uh-BAR-ee) – the title for the local or global leader of the A’mara
- A’mara – (uh-MAR-uh) - a sub-race of highly-gifted people on Terrenden, usually genetically-marked with red hair. Also the name for the country from which they originated, on the continent of Almara.
- chola – (CHO-luh) - the (usually) teen-aged apprentice of a full A’mara.
- flyppcard - (FLIP-card) - a small cartridge to fit into a flyppad to record information, often via a stylus.
- flyppad - (FLIP-pad) - a digital reader and recording instrument, usually used with a stylus.
- leya – (LAY-uh) – the invisible grid of energy that surrounds and comprises all things – which A’mara are trained to utilize.
- maqla – (MACK-luh) - the teacher and mentor of an apprenticed A’mara.
- PCS link - (PEE-see-ess) - a wearable (usually wrist-worn) version of a communications device, originally marketed by Portable Communications Systems, but now used colloquially for any such device.

So, I can't seem to count to six... :-p
Normally, I don't post a chapter on Sunday and post an update instead. Unfortunately, I seem to have miscounted in my scheduling efforts.
It reminds me of when I do cross-stitching. Sometimes people would watch me and ask me whether it was difficult. I told them, completely honestly, that the hardest part of it was counting! Seems so simple, but one mishap can make a huge difference! Anyway...
I didn't put in the definitions yet: flyppaper and Veleda.
A Veleda is a laser gun of sort. It fires energy bolts, and is a common weapon of choice among those who cannot use a shaze or other Material-based weapons.
flyppaper - pronounced FLIP-paper - is deliberately a play on pronunciation. Obviously, the term looks like flypaper - like what you might catch flies on. But this has two p's for Flypp Industries on Terrenden... again. I felt it was slightly funny to use it for this - flyppaper. But I sometimes have a bizarre sense of humor!
Anyway, in this segment, you can see how Ardin's hardness is already beginning to soften - partly because he can see that the A'mara might be able to lessen his pain and partly because he does admit that he admires Kami's beauty.
