All of this opportunity at our finger tips, all of the means to help at our finger tips, all of this privilege at our finger tips.
Do we take advantage? I don’t know but all I see are people complaining about how it’s not enough and looking down at what they see are empty hands. All the “brown” people are taking away their opportunity, their means, their privilege. They’re all getting a “free ride”.
A free ride? Is escaping war, cartels, and famine to go to a country where they are just barely surviving a “free ride”? How greedy of them, how utterly disgusting of them for trying to live. How unlucky of them that their ancestors didn’t come and pillage the beautiful land that you are working “so hard” to merely exist on.
“You only got into that school because you're brown, my daughter could’ve gotten in if it weren’t for you people.” She works hard because she sees the life her family leads, she wants better for them, and everything she does is for them.
“She” lives on a pedestal of privilege built by her parents telling her she owns this world and that she can have whatever she wants. She doesn’t have to slave away in the library motivated by poverty and hate. She doesn’t have to hear about her relatives dying because they weren’t as lucky as her to make it out of their country, where war lies in their backyards. She does it for herself, because her parents tell her every day that this world was made for her.
“Um mam, that’s the price with the coupon?”
Arguing with a cashier over $0.50 because apparently the beef jerky had a coupon attached, but it was actually mislabeled. 50 cents…
We have all grown so disgusting, disdainful, ignorant, and apathetic due to this consumerism and elitism. You are spending over hundreds of dollars on complete bullshit but you care about 50 goddamn cents? Do you really care or is it the mere principle of maintaining this jackass reputation you have built up?
I hear people say they wish they could help but don’t know how. Oh, I know, me, me pick me! Maybe instead of buying useless shit, donate money to an important cause? I don’t know this might sound crazy and correct me if I’m wrong, but for every useless purchase make a donation of same or lesser value instead of making another stupid useless purchase.
So get out of my face with your disgusting coupons. I see it in your hand sir, no need to throw it in my face. Good for you, you get to continue living another day knowing you saved a couple cents. They get to continue living another day…fucking being alive. Being grateful for it too.
