This is not a contest. It is merely my own subjective opinion; a collection of images that speak to me the loudest. The only requirement I have is that they must be original photographs that you created. Please also post the gear & settings that were used.
Also, there is no set schedule for when these will be posted, because it all depends on how long it takes me to find 5 of what I consider to be the best of the best photos on Steemit at any given moment. Considering that photos get posted to all the different photography-related tags literally about 5 to 10 per second, it can take a while to wade through everything to find the gems, and then to confirm their authenticity.

Today's Top 5 Photos of Steemit
1. "White stork flying on the water" by @zikmaulana
I love how the stork is just grazing the water, creating the very beginnings of a disturbance. The reflection is almost so clear that you can see details of the wings from underneath. And it nearly appears as if the stork is just sort of... balancing there, on the tips of its wings. The almost painterly warm peach tones in the water help to complete this image.
2. "Dirty Shoes" by @ajanphoto
It's the clever pose and the lighting that do it for me in this one. Everything is in focus here, from the boots in the foreground, to the red hair on the left of her face illuminated by a pop of light from another strobe which provides a rim light around her right arm (our left), and her neck and jawline. Very well executed.
3. "Come with me to the stunning Costa de Almeria in Spain - Nightscape longexposure" by @eaglest
A nice division of sky & earth, split right across the middle of the frame. The photographer says the rocks were illuminated by a nearby lighthouse, and this is complimented very well by a beautiful night sky complete with some soft overtones of blue light and star streaks. I wish we had places like this where I live.
4. "#colorchallenge -TuesdayOrange" by @sawyn
This one is the embodiment of words like "calm", "peace", and "serene". The directionality of the two boats in the bottom third of the image do well to draw the viewer into the picture, and the mirrored landscape on the horizon is nearly perfectly straight. The subtle vignette keeps the focus toward the middle, and the warm, orange tones provide almost a sense of comfort.
5. "Alone in the Forest" by @natebillings
Look at that fog, that incredibly tilted horizon with the trees reaching skyward in spite of it. And I love how the trail just cuts right through all of it. The sense of depth the fog adds is great here; each layer of trees a lighter shade than the one ahead of it. He starts by saying, "Hiking with friends has a lot of advantages and the camaraderie can't be beat but there's something about being alone in the forest that clears your mind of all life's little troubles." I can't disagree. A solo tour through the little world shown here sounds more than ideal.
