Andrew Yang: a man of ideas and solutions

On December 19, the sixth debate took place between the Democratic candidates who aspire to face Trump in the next U.S. presidential elections. This debate was held on the campus of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, the most populous state in the country and the one with the largest number of delegates to the July convention from which a candidate will be proclaimed. Despite the fact that it is the busiest primary process in Democratic Party history, this last debate saw fewer candidates, only seven: Andrew Yang, Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer.

Again, Andrew Yang had the least amount of time to talk. It must be said that a lot of time was lost in this debate with those other professional politicians who are good at going round and round in circles. We all know that Yang's policies deal with the real problems and are very profound, so we wanted to hear more about them; however, many of the interventions revolved around President Donald Trump's "impeachment" process. All the candidates agreed with this judgment, but Yang stressed that they should not be distracted by it and should pay more attention to other things that are fundamental for the nation. In fact, protesters outside the venue demanded that the immigration issue be given more time in the forums.

In this debate, PBS journalist and moderator Judy Woodruff surprised the candidates by asking them to choose between apologizing or offering a gift. Andrew Yang, who was the first to respond, said he would like to give each candidate a copy of his book on how automation will improve the nation's economy.Yang also sent a message to minority voters for being the only candidate present who was not white: "It is an honor and a disappointment to be the only candidate of color on the stage tonight," he said. On Latinos and African Americans, Yang stressed that they have power in numbers but face obstacles such as health disparities and lack the financial power that dominates politics.

Another of the most controversial issues was that of donations. As we all know, in Andrew Yang's case it is the small donors (those who give less than $200) who are driving his campaign, mainly fed supporters known as "Yang Gang. However, he will need that gang to grow out of line in order to continue his campaign in 2020, which we do not doubt, since Yang's candidacy has been growing like foam.

After this debate, it will only be 46 days before the primary vote begins in Iowa on February 3, a long process that will culminate in the middle of the year with the Democratic Party Convention. The figure of Andrew Yang is considered a breeze of renewal in the American political landscape. We have no doubt that he will go far.

Automation can be an extension of centralization of tyranny. Also, free money generally comes from tax payers. Government needs more transparency as they are grabbing our money. We should keep our eyes on what they do with our money. We should always try to hold them accountable for what they do and don't do.
