John Barrymore stars as the chilling hypnotist Svengali, a sinister figure that uses his mind control abilities to charm the lovely Trilby O'Farrell, aptly performed by Marian Marsh.
Featuring spectacular special effects for it's time, an honest cast of actors and an intriguing story... to tell you anymore would really spoil the build-up.

At first something of a comedy, the film slowly builds to a style reminding us of German expressionism and is well worth a complete viewing, giving an ending open to interpretation.

Yes, it's really old, but it is an OK movie, give it a chance (or not). Anyway it is something different.
