Investment into the health of the workers only exists to keep profit up, they do not care about you as a worker. If they are doing it because they care they will be destroyed through the process of capital accumulation.

You’re definitely right though. In fact, this reminds me of a specific quote from Bernie Sanders’ Guide to Political Revolution, “Millions of American workers need these programs [like SNAP and Medicaid] because they cannot survive on the starvation wages their employers pay. Public assistance given to low-wage workers is essentially subsidizing the profits of the companies paying the low wages.” On top of that, albeit necessary, it is more importantly and enticingly cost-effective for the bourgeoisie to maintain a proletariat just healthy enough to labor.
As for your last sentence, I agree—except, besides capital accumulation, I’d only add that competition between the bourgeoisie also gets in the way.
Nobody cares really about anyone except they do actually have something to gain in return
the return does not have to be economic gains, unless it is forced on them by the system of captialism
that's why companies do sports classes for their employees. Healthy people are less likely to get sick and work more
