People need to stay active to reap the benefits when the price goes back up. Make Steemit fun for yourself as you would on other social sites. I'd say to ignore the trending page and seek out those who share your interests.

I normally start with my own feed which shows content from all the people I follow. Much nicer experience that way, but it only works if you follow lots of people you actually want to hear from!
