Zingtober - Day 7- “Starfish”

in #zingtober11 days ago

Holo Friends!!! A starfish is one of the most interesting aquatic organism as they come in so different colours and have interesting patterns. For my entry today, i made a drawing of a starfish grasping an elderly man’s face, more like in control of his body. I gained my inspiration for this drawing from the alien movies/series where the alien sticks to the face of their host. This makes the host unconscious at first while as the alien uses their body to grow rapidly. I got a photo of a starfish and an elderly man and used both photo to create this piece
This was created using the hatching technique and a bit of scribbling.

I created this using ink on cardboard paper as well. Firstly, I began by creating an outline of both the face and the startfish. I made 2 outlines which weren’t looking so good as they looked unnatural due to symmetry of the star fish in relation to the man’s face. The 3rd outline sketch i made was the charm and when i was satisfied with the outcome, i began adding details and shading. I made the old man close his eyes as drawing it with eyes opened wasnt giving the result i needed(from the first sketch Imade). I started off with the man’s face as it seemed like the easiest part of the drawing, however, it took more time than anticipated . And then I proceeded to making the rough skin pattern on the starfish before adding more details and shading.

The challenging part when it came to the starfish was shading it in a way that it looks like it’s actually gripping the faceof the man. When i was satisfied with the result of my shading, I added some details to the man’s face which are the mole and wrinkles. The man is seen wearing a head wear and i so much love this piece that i may actually create a bigger and colourful artwork from this idea. The steps involved in the creation are below and I hope you love the piece as much as I enjoyed creating it.
