스팀은 하드포크 이후에 또 먹통이었다.
매번 이럴 때마다 페이스북을 만든 저커버그의 일대기를 그린 영화 <소셜 네트워크>의 한 장면이 생각난다. 극 중에 큰 비중을 차지하는 사건은 아니다. 페이스북이 승승장구하는 순간 잠시간 서버가 다운된 적이 있다. 그 순간 주인공인 마크 저커버그는 엄청난 패닉에 빠지고, 친구에게 엄청난 비난을 퍼붓는다. 이렇게 잠시만이라도 서버가 다운되면 망한다고. 앞으로 절대로 이런 일이 없도록 해야 한다고.
저커버그 만큼은 바라지도 않는다. 하지만 스팀이 탈중앙화라는 특성을 고려하더라도 하드포크 후에 매번 이렇게 정지하는 것은 문제가 있다. 재단 또한 전혀 절실하지 않아 보인다. 한마디 설명도 없다. 시스템은 물론 운영에 있어서도 베타 딱지를 떼지 못하고 있는 이 스팀에 투자를 했다는 것을 남들에게 알리지 못하는 것이 어찌보면 당연할지도 모른다.
Steem was also jammed after the hard fork.
Everytime facing this error I recall a scene from film, Social Network. It is not a big event in this movie. When Facebook went well, the server was down for a while. At that moment, the main character, Mark Zuckerberg, falls into a tremendous panic and throws a lot of blame on his friend. Zuckerberg said that If server goes down like this again, they will fail and they should never have this happen in the future.
Even if the Steem is decentralized, it is problematic to stop it every time after the hard fork. The Foundation also doesn't seem to be in need. There is no explanation about this happening. Perhaps it makes sense to not let others know that you've invested in the Steem, which is only beta in the system as well as in service.
