A few days ago I shared a cool 3d printing bed with a special pattern that defracts light giving the bottom of the prints a rainbow effect.
Right below is how some of these sheets look, there are a few desings and I am waiting for a few more to come in from China, if you want to check out the post about these special beds check out my blog post here
But this post is not about the beds well sorta, I needed a place to store these so I figured why not deisgn a model and print it and so that is what I did.
It's a fairly simple design and did not take very long, the print did end up taking about a day and a half.
This is actualy the second version of the design I was trying to make it use up less plastic with this version, initially the gaps you see highlited below did not exist and those section where"solid" well what do you know my new design was heavier 🤣.
you may be confused as to how that can be with those section being "solid" well here is the thing most the time things are not printed solid and those sections would just be hollow if the infil was set to zero but th my design there are more walls and less space for this hollow ness so this model ended up using more plastic and more time but it looked cooler and has more gaps to store some other stuff so settled with it.
