Playoffs Week 8 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

The match of Standard yesterday was not played as fans boycotted the bus of the home team to reach the station. Likely it will become a forfait score and there are just 7 more matches this week starting today with the final week of Playoff 3 where both matches are played at the same time.

Eupen vs RWDM

Eupen is sure to be relegated which can work both ways in that they either play free and much better at home or they don't really care anymore (at least some players). RWDM last week chocked losing first losing at home against Charleroi last week and against Kortrijk the week before which got them in a position where they are now back in 3rd spot. From what I understand, a draw isn't good enough for them so a win is needed. I do see RWDM as the better team and the situation where a win is needed coming from behind is always easier than playing with a team chasing you. The only real option for me in this match is to bet on the RWDM win which is what I did early on getting in just 0.139 units on RWDM -0.5 @ 2.90. By now, this has dropped to 2.33 which I feel still might be an option. I'm waiting to get some confirmation in-game before possibly taking more.

Charleroi vs Kortrijk

Kortrijk got them self somehow in a spot where they still have a chance to stay in the league. Their coach already stated that Eupen is in vacation mode and RWDM will win so his team needs the 3 points in order to finish 2nd. Last week at home against Eupen, nerves were very high already and they needed luck to win that one with 1-0. I do expect nerves again to play a role for them while Charleroi is completely free. Charleroi showed last week at least in the 1st half to fully go for it backing up their coach who got in trouble before as Westerlo no longer played in the last week. So I fully expect Charleroi to at least start the match with the intention to win and put effort in it which might weaken a lot once they grow tired in the 2nd half. Defenders Dari and Petris are injured while Zorgane is questionable which is a blow for Charleroi while Kortrijk doesn't have any key missing. It wouldn't be the first time that the team under pressure can't handle the nerves at the start and only starts playing freely once they fall behind. I took 0.4 units on Charleroi 1st Half +0 @ 1.816. Over in-game is also an option.

Anderlecht vs Genk

Anderlecht so far hasn't really convinced during the playoffs to the point where I consider them a real title candidate. This also because they picked up some key injuries with Hazard and also Vertonghen now and Ashimeru who in the past matches was one of the better players. They are still 2nd in the league just 2 points behind on Club Brugge. Genk started the playoffs in an excellent convincing way but the 2 matches against Club Brugge simply weren't good enough and this trend was continued against Cercle. This now puts them in 4th spot with Cercle just 1 point behind them. On top of this, their coach who will go to AA Gent next season was fired this week so by no means an optimal situation for them. A lot will come down to form of the day and making a prediction on that feels like a complete gamble. No Pre-Game Bets
