A wonderful Wednesday walk in the mountains and valleys of Buchan, Victoria

Hey there all you wonderful Wednesday Walkers all over the world, I hope that you are all well and enjoying your #wednesdaywalks- wherever you are in the world, whether they be with your loved ones or with yourself and your camera and I hope that you're as grateful as I am to be able to walk freely and without fear of a bomb or a building falling on your head......

So with thanks to @tattoodjay for creating this amazing community for us to share our walk in, today I would like to present you with Episode 3 of my camping trip to Buchan Caves a few weeks ago.

You can see Episode #1 here where I take you on a tour of the excellent campground....https://peakd.com/hive-155530/@chocolatescorpi/wenesday-walk-in-the-wilds-of-victorias-buchan-valley

And then here in episode #2 where I show you Royal Cave- the hidden jewel and the reason why I went there in the first place.......https://peakd.com/hive-155530/@chocolatescorpi/a-wenesday-walk-in-the-deep-depths-of-royal-cave-at-the-buchan-caves-gippsland-victoria

So in this episode, I'd love to take you with me as I explore the mountain tracks and valley creeks and is that more cave openings I see?

So stay tuned for more #amazingnature #treetuesday and many other sensational things on this weeks Wednesday Walk.

I hope that you enjoy the absolute glorious beauty of Buchan Caves https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/places-to-see/parks/buchan-caves-reserve

So we'll start off with glorious view of the valley and mountain beyond

And then meet the locals https://gunaikurnai.org/our-country/joint-management/buchan-caves-reserve/

MUM KANGAROO AND JOEY.png

And one of them is a bit camera shy...

There they are! Trying to use the trees as a camouflage!

KANGAROOS HIDING.png

And then as they all hop off the hide form the paparazzi, we come across this amazing horizontal pattern in the rockface above and yes I, took a bit creative licence here, giving it a bit of colour...Looks cool though eh.

And these are all different spots
![ROCKFACE.png](

And what, is that a secret entrance to another cave?

EMBANKMENT ROCK CAVE WIDE.png

And maybe that's one too?

And this could be another secret entrance that only the animals know about!

And this one too?

CAVE OPENING.png

Unfortunately it was getting too dark to think about checking each one out, and whether they were secret entrances to the massive caves system beneath me or not, I'm pretty sure that each one would be a home for the Wombats, Foxes and all the other little animals that call Buchan home too, So I wasn't bout to go traipsing out disturbing their homes, like so many humans are currently doing to other humans around the world...🙄😡😭

So we go down through the lush valley to explore the creeks instead

And see Mum Kangaroo and child eating dinner and decide yeas, it is time to head back to the tent and get dinner ready for Indy and myself before its get too dark and cold.

So we leave Mum and kid to carry on, enjoying their dinner and the peace and quiet and go back to enjoy ours too.

And then sit and watch the Possums in the trees and running around around the tent doing some recon to see how they can get to our dinner again!

ChocolateScorpi is so incredibly grateful to the the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of this beautiful land that I call home and I thank you for caring for it for so long.

I also want to extend my gratitude to the Gunaikurnai people, who are the Traditional Owners of much of Gippsland, including the Krauatungalung, Tatungalung, Brabralung, Brayakaulung, Brataualung clans, their elders, past, present, future and emerging as they too seek to take care of the Magnificent area that they have called home for tens of thousands of years.

I pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging and offer our hand to all first nations hands in order to help heal all of our relationships to the earth on this truly magical and extraordinary island nation that we now all call home.

Those are pretty good spot you visit, nature is truly amazing. You captured them beautifully and seeing them here made me feel like jumping in there through my screen. Seems like you explore a paradise full of good looking scenery.

Oh it IS such a beautiful place and I'm so glad that you went there with me to see it too!

So beautiful is the view that has 4 season. You can see kangaroos. To be ICONIC and funny of course. Thank you. Greetings,

Yes, that is Australia, especially Melbourne area- State of Victoria- famous for having 4 season in one day, but it is lovely to see in nature too, especially the Kangaroos.

So glad that you enjoyed the walk with me too!

What a lovely walk 😊 love the kangaroos captures.
Have a beautiful week 👋🏻🤗🥰

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions posts! Comment Footer.jpg Please consider voting for our Liotes HIVE Witness. Thank you!

Hey there @achim03 it's been a long time!

Great to see you!

I think the last time I saw you was when I first stumbled upon Hive back in 2020 and what a happy accident that was!

I hope that you've been well since. I'm sure that there have been many events in your life over the past few years and I'm happy to see that you're still here!

(This thing called Hive is very addictive isn't it!..🤣..It's like my chocolate addiction, I think of nothing but when I'm not here and can't get enough when I am...😂...)

I am so glad to see that you enjoyed the walk with me and the hunting for more entrances to the actual caves...lol...

By the way- did you see the actual Buchan Caves? If not, you really should as it it just such an extraordinary place! https://peakd.com/hive-155530/@chocolatescorpi/a-wenesday-walk-in-the-deep-depths-of-royal-cave-at-the-buchan-caves-gippsland-victoria

And thank you so much for choosing this walk- and those gorgeous Kangaroos and Mum and her Joey to showcase on the @ourpick selections!

I really appreciate your support and love to know that there will be more people around the world that can experience life in a tiny village called Buchan in Victoria, Australia and see more Kangaroos in the wild- even if only virtually.

I look forward to hearing from you again soon!

This is a wonderful walk, thanks for sharing with us what you have seen there. The place is beautiful, filled with different faces of nature. Those entrances are intriguing!

So glad that you enjoyed it with me! 😃

It certainly is an area of magic and marvel- especially when you go down into the caves, so I agree, all of those entrances could very well be more doorways into heaven under the earth!

Or just animal burrows...either way, they are special and full of magic and mystery to me.

Did you see the actual caves by the way? If not, you must check them out!

Those holes I can see ancient humans and cave people escaping from the dinosaurs in there.

As for Buchan well I can tell you that there ain't no kangaroos in our Buchan here in Scotland!

Awesome walk and this makes me want to post a Wednesday Walk but I have CBAitis at the moment!

Oh I'm sure that there a whole lost civilisation down in there.

Apparently there's miles that they haven't explored yet but I want to!

I would LOVE to go proper spelunking down there!

You;re probably lucky not having any roo's in your Buchan because apparently that one was about 7.8 ft tall- they do get big out here too- aparently all animals in Australia back then were giants, even the wombats..

My brain has come up with many explanations of what CBAitis is NSFW though...

My brain has come up with many explanations of what CBAitis is NSFW though...

hahaha that got me laughing and now thinking!

I thought it was Texas that had the biggest of everything lol and now I am wondering what the fluff spelunking is!

Haaa have you never hear of Spelunking before!?!?!

Well it's NOT the thing that you do...well whenever you're doing it...😜..🤣

It the official name for caving, though the quick search I did now suggest that Spelunkers are more amateurs that do easier caves and proper cavers do serious, unexplored caves...

So really there's nothing stopping anyone from spelunking while you're spelunking...😆🤣😂😅
