It is true that an app will not to everything. However, it goes back to the question of whether the future is us having a device full of applications, basically one per function, or one or two that handle most things.
The concept of the everything app is based upon the latter. We will see how it unfolds but I am willing to bet that is the path taken. We know Musk is focusing upon that. Will applications on Hive?
Some are already doing so.

Big apps tend to be unwieldy and have more security issues. They also need a lot of developers. I use multiple Hive dapps and am happy to do so.
