Also one of the main differences with HSBI is that you instantly lose your initial investment and it takes a long time to earn that back before you really start earning something. This is only partially true of Hive SBI; subscriptions are subject to a refund policy that kicks in whenever there are material changes to the program. Since the fork from Steem into Hive SBI was considered a material change, anyone that enrolled prior to that fork can capture most (if not all) of their enrolled value.
We are working on a v2 updated release that will also be considered a material change once it goes into effect.
Nice to see @steembasicincome is going strong! The article dates back from 3 years ago and I haven't been caught up that much on the development. I should read up on it when I find some time.
