Hello friends, it is a pleasure for me to share with you my walks through photos. I have always liked to take photos of all the places I visit, whether for the first time or not, even if they are very well known, the reason is that I like to capture the moments I am living, every day is different, every minute, every moment is unique and unrepeatable.
These days I am enjoying walking the streets of Havana and today I want to show you more closely the Paseo del Prado or Paseo de Martí. I invite you to take a tour of this iconic place in my city.
Hola amigos, es un placer para mi compartir con ustedes mis paseos a través de fotos. Siempre me ha gustado tomar fotos de todos los lugares que visito, ya sea por primera vez o no, aunque sean muy conocidos, la razón es que me gusta capturar los momentos que estoy viviendo, cada día es diferente, cada minuto, cada instante es único e irrepetible .
En estos días estoy disfrutando recorrer las calles de La Habana y hoy les quiero mostrar más de cerca el Paseo del Prado o Paseo de Martí. Los invito a dar un recorrido por este icónico lugar de mi ciudad.
One of the characteristics that distinguish this Paseo is the presence of statues of lions made of bronze that guard the Prado from each of its corners. As a curious fact, I will tell you that the bronze cannons that were intended to protect the city from pirate attacks were melted down to make these beautiful sculptures symbolizing the protection of the city.
Una de las características que distinguen este Paseo es la presencia de estatuas de leones hechos de bronce que custodian el Prado desde cada una de sus esquinas. Como dato curioso les diré que los cañones de bronce que estaban destinados a la protección de la ciudad del ataque de piratas fueron fundidos para hacer estas bellas esculturas simbolizando la protección de la ciudad.
The floor is made of granite with very beautiful patterns and along its entire length there are benches with marble seats and backrests on both sides of the Paseo. There are trees that provide very pleasant shade where we can rest on the benches and enjoy the breeze that comes from the sea.
El piso es de granito con dibujos muy bonitos y a todo lo largo se encuentran bancos con asiento y respaldo de mármol a ambos lados del Paseo. Hay árboles que dan una sombra muy agradable donde podemos descansar en los bancos y disfrutar de la brisa que viene del mar.
At both ends of the Paseo del Prado there are sculptures of important independence fighters who, through their literary and journalistic works, contributed to the fight for Cuban independence. At the entrance to the Paseo por del Norte we can admire the sculpture of the poet Juan Clemente Zenea, to whom I dedicated a publication that you can find Here.
En ambos extremos del Paseo del Prado se encuentran esculturas de importantes luchadores independentistas que a través de sus obras literarias y periodísticas contribuían a la lucha por la independencia de Cuba. A la entrada del Paseo por el Norte podemos admirar la escultura al poeta Juan Clemente Zenea, a quién le dediqué una publicación que pueden encontrar aquí.
At the southern end, on Prado and Neptuno, there is a beautiful sculpture dedicated to Manuel de la Cruz, journalist, writer and friend of José Martí, called the "Mambí of letters" because he used journalism to fight for independence. The bust is made of white marble on a very beautifully decorated pedestal.
En el extremo Sur, en Prado y Neptuno, está ubicada una hermosa escultura dedicada a Manuel de la Cruz, periodista, escritor y amigo de José Martí, llamado el ¨Mambí de las letras¨ porque utilizó el periodismo para luchar por la independencia. El busto está hecho de mármol blanco sobre un pedestal muy bellamente decorado.
I was walking along the Paseo at midday, the sun was very strong but thanks to the shade of the trees I was able to walk calmly while I observed the works that the artisans offered us, inviting us to take some as souvenirs.
Estuve recorriendo el Paseo a la hora del mediodía, el sol estaba bien fuerte pero gracias a la sombra de los árboles pude transitar tranquilamente mientras observaba las obras que nos ofrecen los artesanos invitándonos a llevarnos algunas de recuerdo.
While I was walking I could see that drawing workshops were being held for children; these activities are very important for developing artistic skills at an early age. We can also see children walking and riding roller skates.
Mientras caminaba pude observar que se estaban realizando talleres de dibujo para los niños, estas actividades son muy importantes para desarrollar las habilidades artísticas en edades tempranas. También podemos ver niños paseando y montando en patines.
Al caminar por los portales de las edificaciones a lo largo de la calle Prado vemos la belleza de la construcción colonial cuya principal característica es el puntal alto de sus techos de madera con vigas, lámparas típicas de la época, columnas majestuosas, grandes ventanales con enrejado de hierro y puertas que van desde el techo al suelo.
It is very pleasant to walk through this area since we can observe the architectural contrasts of our city, in the distance we can see the Morro Castle and closer we can observe the beauty of the Paseo del Prado, Grand Packard, Mystique Regis Habana, Parque Central and Telégrafo, which have been recently restored combining colonial style with modern design, all together make a pleasant vision of Havana architecture.
Es muy agradable andar por esta zona ya que podemos observar los contrastes arquitectónicos de nuestra ciudad, a lo lejos divisamos el Castillo del Morro y más cerca podemos observar la belleza de los hoteles Paseo del Prado, Grand Packard, Mystique Regis Habana, Parque Central y Telégrafo, que han sido recientemente restaurados combinando el estilo colonial con el diseño moderno, todo en su conjunto hacen una agradable visión de la arquitectura habanera.

Ves, tu fotografías los lugares que visitas y yo hago lo mismo pero con insectos y demás jajajaja. Vi tus fotografías y de verdad que se me antojo sentarme en uno de esos lugares a tomar aire fresco, se ve que es muy tranquilo y vale la pena darse una caminata también. Me gustaron las estatuas de bronce, los leones se ven geniales junto a todas las edificaciones que muestras en las fotos. Hola mi amigo Abner, me alegra que te haya gustado el Paseo, es realmente relajante caminar por ahí, cuando cae la tarde es aún más bonito porque llegas al malecón y disfrutas de una linda puesta de sol. Los leones son uno de los símbolos de la ciudad, por eso la mascota del equipo de pelota de la capital es el león y los contrarios le gritan cuando están perdiendo "ruge leona"😆☺️.
