Playoffs Week 9 Sunday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

Not that much action yesterday in Playoff 2 where a B-Squad away easily managed to beat Standard A-Squad to my surprise. On Sunday it's possible for there to be a new champion in Belgium and there is also the first leg of the Relegation/Promotion test match.

Cercle Brugge vs Union

Union has nothing to lose in this match as they already have an European Ticket while there is a longshot for them to become the champion still. However, they will need to win while Anderlecht doesn't and both Brugge & Anderlecht to lose their match in the last week. Cercle Brugge still is fighting for the 4th place which would avoid a test match against AA Gent. Cercle is coming off 2 wins against Antwerp and Genk and have been a positive surprise in these playoffs. Union is coming off 2 draws against Club Brugge & Anderlecht at times looking a bit tired but pushing through it. I don't really have a strong view on this one aside from the fact that Union needs to win and will take a lot of risk when needed. No Pre-Game Bets

Anderlecht vs Club Brugge

Anderlecht will be champion in this match if they win but I'm quite sure that if they could they would instantly sign for a draw which leaves them with a match away against Antwerp where are win would do. Antwerp fans don't like Club Brugge and will cheer for Anderlecht in that match. Club Brugge if they win will have a chance to win the title if they win at home against Cercle in the last week. Anderlecht is missing Delaney, Vertonghen and Hazard which is quite some experience while Club Brugge will have to do without Thiago who has been the strong player who can keep the ball in offense. Overall I still see Club Brugge at the team with simply more quality and a couple weeks ago based on the play of both teams I had my eye on this matchup seeing it almost impossible for Anderlecht to win. However, since that time, Anderlecht seems to have improved and Club Brugge has been less impressive. I do expect Anderlecht to start this match playing for the draw instead of just fully going for the win and the Championship. I took 0.4 units on Club Brugge +0 @ 1.928.

Lommel SK vs Kv Kortrijk

This is the first leg between the 2nd of the 1st division playdowns and the 1st of the 2nd Division playoffs. Purely based on what I saw from the 2nd division teams, the should fall short against the 1st division teams while Kortrijk has been in the flow. I would be surprised to see Lommel make the promotion and don't see Kortrijk as the underdog even away from home. Nerves likely will be high so it might not be the most attractive match. I took 0.4 units on Kv Kortrijk +0.25 @ 1.752
