Sowing cryptocurrencies, harvesting freedom

Bitcoin

I am of the belief that cryptocurrencies are something more than an instrument to play speculator, trader or investor from an app installed on your smartphone, waiting for its price to rise to win or fall to buy more, it is not something I criticize but financial work is not the only space where blockchain technology and decentralized digital currencies can develop their service for humanity, in fact we ourselves what we do life in this social network know what is capable of doing this new decentralized economic phenomenon.

If I had been told 10 years ago that I could have the possibility of generating income by writing in a social network through the use of blockchain technology and a cryptocurrency, I would view that person with distrust and I would even think that he or she must have consumed some hallucinogenic product. But the world, like life itself, is changing at an accelerated pace and what we used to see as science fiction is now reality.

I live in a country in crisis, usually when talking about Venezuela the information that is usually expornese in the press, radio, TV and social networks is negative, however, let the country that does not have problems throw a stone. I don't want to expand on negative stories about my country, on the contrary, or I want to talk about how cryptocurrencies have changed the life of a great friend of mine dedicated to planting tomatoes for subsistence. To begin with my friend Derman (that's his name) is a humble young man very believer of God and with a beautiful family, he lives in a town outside Caracas, where who does not work in the capital must devote himself to plant to eat.

Derman assumed from the beginning that his life will be like that, that of working the land, a small extension in the back of his house that he conditioned for the cultivation of tomatoes, peppers or eggplants. Before I must warn you not to imagine my friend working with the help of tractors or highly technical machinery, on the contrary, just his hands, the sweat on his brow and the two most valuable things he has after God and his family: his seeds and his great brain to make the fruits of the earth grow.

I remember a couple of years ago he was explaining to me the extremely complex work that means the whole process of living from what you sow, starting with the slavery to which farmers are subjected to the dictatorship of green companies and their transgenic seeds, which only produce single crops and therefore you are subjected to buy the whole technological package that the company offers after each harvest. On the other hand, the buyers impose the prices which are usually very low, to later sell at international market prices in the final destination (big cities), as always, the one who works the least is the one who earns the most.

At that time I knew about the power of cryptocurrencies and their ability to improve what surrounds us. I thought, there is no doubt that under this business scheme my friend will end up throwing in the towel because between the cost of the seeds with their technological package and the mafia of low prices, there is no doubt that he will barely have any funds left for him and his family's enjoyment. That is why I helped him to improve his life by teaching him the world of cryptocurrencies. First we invested in BTC the profits from the last harvest so that when it is time to buy the seeds a little extra fund would be left for the future.

The second thing we did was to look for buyers who would pay with cryptocurrencies (BTC, Dash or Litecoin) a matter not easy to achieve given the little knowledge about this type of economy that existed at that time. However, one buyer agreed to pay with cryptos (Dash) so we were already generating some extra income as the prices of these digital currencies strengthened. My friend was testing this system combining the fiat method with the cryptocurrencies, so that each time he could do his work of taking fruit from the land and even invest in tools and machinery that were unthinkable for him before.

Obviously Derman is passing on this knowledge to other colleagues of his, who like him have also benefited from taking on the decentralized digital economy in their production processes. Now we need to dedicate a lot of effort to totally free ourselves from the yoke of the transgenic world, we are looking for natural seeds to generate independence in our field and of course, link them to cryptocurrency trading but already this is another process we are evolving to thanks to the momentum that this new economy imposes on our lives.

Very nice story! It's always nice to hear that cryptocurrencies changed someone's life for the better.

Have you introduced your friend Derman to Hive/Leo?

Thank you for your comment and support for my post. Yes, I have introduced this social network to my friend, however his life is in the field, his family and the church so time is the factor that most attempts against his participation in this space.

Nice, thank you.

It sounds like a nice little adventure. I would think more of the vendors would accept crypto but I guess the volatility just isn't for everyone.

Volatility is a major factor in cryptocurrencies, however my friend is already learning to balance this factor by using stablecoins.

If you are using stable coins, you could possibly look into depositing it into places that give you interest. But of course since you aren't holding the coins, it comes with its own risk.

Woah, what an interesting journey.
Perhaps there is someone on the Hive blockchain that could help you with this. I love seeing real use cases for crypto.
Well done to you for helping your friend out! 👏🏽
Please keep us updated on how it evolves!

Hi, thank you for your comment and support. Indeed we are always willing to receive all kinds of ideas to improve our economy in all aspects of life, it would be a pleasure to receive any kind of proposal that would lead to further improve the path taken with this alternative economy.

I agree with you that your time and effort to accumulate those crypto, can transform your life in the future.

Thank you, indeed, cryptos are transforming many lives around the world, that is why it is necessary to tell these stories to get more people interested in this new economy.

The title of the post got me, and Derman's story kept me reading to the end. Great post!

Besides being a medium of exchange (which paper money is), money is supposed to be a tool which offers us options. The options we have with paper money are limited, but we're just discovering how cryptocurrencies can give us options we wouldn't have imagined ten years ago.

If we can get more freedom from something we have and use, we should have more of it. Cryptocurrencies help us gain more freedom, and they help us re-imagine freedom in ways which favor us. It's only the beginning with cryptocurreny!

Thank you for your comment, I share these stories because it makes me happy to show those beautiful things that life offers us when something that could be classified as complicated to understand or access as cryptocurrencies show you an alternate world at your disposal.

I think that you, me and each one of us who make life in Hive are potential "Derman" discovering this world and making it ours, this is what freedom is all about, right?

Part of freedom is the ability to pursue happiness in ways which respect other people's ability to do the same. That means we need to respect everyone's right to do just that as long as they respect ours. The more ways we have to pursue our happiness, the better chance we have of finding that happiness.

Happiness doesn't depend on money, but money can't hurt. If we don't have paper money (or paper money is worthless), and we don't have hard assets, perhaps cryptocurrencies can fill the gaps for us. Cryptocurrenncies are for everyone, we just need to learn how to acquire them and show others how to acquire them.
