RE: Hive Ecosystem Education Partner HDF Proposal

in #hive2 years ago

Hi @enjar and thank you for your feedback and questions.

$1200 per learner is not unreasonable for a course of such caliber especially when it requires 200 students to get the personal support they need to complete it and feel confident in their journey.

You are spot on about people not completing courses and it's one of the things we have put a lot of effort into. I'm teaching online for 14 years. I know only too well how poor the completion rate can be for e-learning. But this is not an e-learning course. Students will be guided via live classes, peer groups, and the student outreach team. Retention is one of the things we have spent a lot of time on and have received outside consulting on. Part of this includes the quality of the student, and so we won't be doing a mass marketing campaign advertising a free course. Instead, we are targeting innovators, entrepreneurs & professionals.

In regards to the breakdown of $240K
We are a for-profit entity, based in Ireland. We have overheads and we have staff. The cost of the course creation has already been absorbed by us and is very much back-ended. As a for-profit entity, we provide a service for a fee. In effect the service to Hive is marketing. Hive gets to be involved in a for good social project, bring education on Web3, Blockchain, and Digital assets.
By establishing a Partnership, we can make this a viable business and as a business, we want to grow. Partnership revenue will be classified as a contribution to profits. Much of our spend will be on

  1. Marketing
  2. R&D (digital certificates and DId's initially)
  3. Staffing

If this project is not funded we are going ahead anyway, it will build our reputation. I would love to see us becoming the go-to education partner for every blockchain like Chainlink is the go-to oracle.
