I've always liked meatballs, but I don’t make them very often since there are three of us at home and it takes quite a bit of meat to make them. It’s really tricky because I usually buy meat in small quantities, but recently I bought more than a kilogram and decided to take a chance on making meatballs today. For me, the best combination is meatballs with rice and mashed potatoes; many people prefer them with pasta, but I prefer them this way—it’s delicious.

To start, take the amount of meat you plan to use—in my case, it was about 300 grams or a little more—and season it with salt, marinade, garlic sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Then I shaped the meat into small balls and fried them in a skillet with a little oil; once they were partially cooked, I removed them from the heat.

I added ground annatto to the oil left in the pan to give it color and flavor, then I added the meatballs until they turned orange. Meanwhile, I put 1 tomato, half a bell pepper, a little less than half a red onion, and a clove of garlic in the blender with a little water, and blended it until completely smooth. I found that this way, my son eats his vegetables without any trouble, haha.

I added the blended vegetables to my meatballs, let them cook until the sauce reduced a bit, and added tomato paste for more flavor and a deeper color. I let it cook until the sauce thickened, and finally served the rice, mashed potatoes, and meatballs—it was a truly delicious lunch.
