There has been some ups and downs already and I haven't even bought my takeaway yet.
The other week the takeaway we had our eye on got took really fast of the market and this was a kick in the nads.
We keep looking around to see what there is at a good price but nothing seems to be coming on our budget there either really overpriced or places that i wouldn't want to work in.
We have found another shop but this one is in chesterfield, this is not to far away from where we are, and the travel time is about 30 minutes depending on traffic.
The owner of the shop wants £18000 for the business and it has trade at the moment, he has 3 members of staff that are working for him and he as asked us not to inform them on his ideas of selling when we go to see the business.
He has asked us to tell them that we have been long time friends and we had just called into see how he was doing, this then should give us enough time to look around the place and see if it fits with what we need.
We did tell him that we wouldn't require the staff who already work there as we don't need at this time to be paying extra wages, and he has told us that he will let them go on the final part of us signing the forms.
I feel sorry for the guys who work there already, I have never met them and in this day of age it is hard to come across a job, but there is nothing I can do for the first 3 to 6 months as we just haven't got the funding to get this going and pay staff as well.
The shop has equipment and food already in there, and has a modern till to take money, it has also got just eat already in the shop, this is something that I will take out as I am against them when it comes to taking fees and % of earning on a shop.
All been well tomorrow the shop will be the one that we want.
Just keep your fingers crossed for us.
Hope this one goes well.
Is the extra travel time late at night after a long day okay? Especially in the winter with snow...?
That's a factor we are looking into, one of the guys has said the same.
There is however a takeaway up for sale very close to me, like I could walk it in about 3 minutes.
I popped into see him last night, but he wouldn't talk to me about price or anything.
I would like to work closer to home as that would be better for all of us, but the way things are at the minute it is just a game of finding the best takeaway for the money we have.
:D
Does he only want to go through an agent?
It looks like it yes, he says it is safer to invest in a shop through an agent as they have to give you 6 months notice before they can move you on.
Private as long as they give you 28 days they can kick you at.
He was talking about buying the building as well but nothing as been said again about that.
Just doing my post now about the shop we went to look at. maybe something that is of interest to you.
