In the epic movie Gandhi (1982)...
Masterfully played by Sir Ben Kingsley (he was knighted in 2002 in case you didn't know), Gandhi was peacefully marching with miners in protest to unjust laws and imprisonments. The mine owner drove to them with a few British soldiers:
Mine owner: These men are contracted laborers. They belong in the mines.
Gandhi: You put their comrades in jail. When you free them... they will go back to work.
Mine owner: l'νe warned you.
Gandhi: We've warned each other.
Later on, the mine owner sent cavalier soldiers to beat up the marchers. One would have expected a brutal confrontation, but one of the marchers shouts to the mob to lie down on the ground, because the horses will not trample them. And so they did, and the cavalier charging at them were promptly halted because the horses wouldn't trample live human lying on the ground. The cavalry retreated and the march continued.
Gandhi's words were powerful because they embodied the will of the people to stand up against tyranny and oppression. And by collectively resisting, Gandhi's movement brought his country to independence from British rule after years of struggle at the expense of his own life.
History is a great lesson for us all in a sense that we should never bow to any tyrant or threats. Collective action is the path to liberation from any oppressor in any shape of form. Strength in unity.
The reason I tell you this story is because we have a tyrant lurking on Steem and systematically harassing all kinds of users: legit bloggers, shit posters, witnesses, and minnows. There's no preference in his abuse. He started by pretending to clean up the abuse from bid bots. So his tactic, instead of targeting the bot owners, he attacked the bidding users. Rich or poor, it didn't matter, he attacked them all with his flagging, including myself.
Thus, we gathered at @the-resistance to counter his abuse: on one hand, he flags posts that used bots not complying with HIS policies, then he comments on those posts, to upvote them himself at 6.5 days. The same 6.5 days policy he "wanted" to impose on others NOT to do, he does it himself to rape rewards. He hardly blogs or posts any quality content, all he does is flag and self-vote his comments.

Many weeks ago...
@fulltimegeek cancelled all his delegations, myself included, in order to counter abuse. So I lost his generous 5k SP delegation, I thank him for his support, I have no issues with him. I didn't think much of it at the time, except less curation for my followers. Later on, I had a chat with @wackou about many things, including the delegation I lost. I asked if he could give me a little 5K delegation, instead, he generously delegated 25k SP to me!!! I was humbled and extremely happy.
Fast forward to the present...
Today @grumpycat graced us with a new tactic of his. He decided to attack the delegator and all those he delegates to, in retribution!!! How low can @grumpycat sink? So he spammed a few posts of users to whom @wackou has delegated. Those users are totally unrelated to this issue, but @grumpycat decided to make it so. Also he made a 72h threat to @wackou:
Notice how he whines about being censored by me!? With all his mighty steem power, he feels threatened by me??? I'm not censoring you @grumpycat, me and many resisters are downvoting your comments because they are nothing but placeholders for your subsequent self-votes at 6.5 days. We're not censoring you, we're taking back what YOU are taking away from us everyday.

The Resistance is growing everyday. We get many minnows joining and complaining about @grumpycat's abuses. He steals away their rewards AND their bids by flagging them. Minnows who mostly come from poor countries and who value each SBD they spend on their bidding to promote their posts. Nothing angers me more than seeing powerless people get slammed by a bully like @grumpycat. If you are supporting @grumpycat, think again and review his actions. What he does is unacceptable and he should answer for it.

@Grumpycat think bidbots should make it less convenient for people to buy vote for direct profit on poor content. The vast majority of users are using steemit.com which sort content using a algorithm that provide ZERO extra visibility to posts older than a few days.
Yesterday 102/235 piece of content (mostly junk) brought votes at 3 day and 85 after 5 days via @sneaky-ninja.
Apart from a few very small bots @Sneaky-ninja (powered by @honeybeee) are the only one left that didn't comply.

It seems that posts do well when he downvotes them :) He never downvoted or talked crap about mine but that's unfair as all my projects are humanitarian in nature. However, I'd invite @grumpycat to swing one of his witness votes my way or delegate some SP any day lol. Fortuntely i've been able to dodge any negative bullets from him but i have read some of this stuff it is intriguing to say the least. I do have to agree that there has to be a solution to having to pray for votes from heavy weights or use bidbots which grumpycat apparently despises. I'm working on a project now that may help people with low SP get more exposure without begging, spamming, or using bidbots. Nothing against the bots at all. Except @transparency bot whose hardly transparently advertising the top bidbots.
Gandhi is literally a hero to Indian people, but being a hero is not that easy, it cost you your life like, malcolm x, Lutherking, they are all have they same fate, if you counter the tyrants. Once you have a power they have lots of resources to stop you. But when it comes with the Steemit users issues, no comment with that. :)

Also, I have actually taken some odd phrases GChas uttered and found them on duolingo forums as common translation mistakes from typically french speaking people, whereas bern has a full grasp of us english humor, sarcasm, and snark and things. bernie and grumpy have some very subtle differences in their language. One such example of what I mean, is when asked about the time a threat will start, GC has used the phrase "since today I will do this thing" - a grammar translation error cited on duolingo as typically French or Spanish. Bernie says things correctly for US/British English like "Starting today..." or "From now on" or "As of today" but not very many native English speakers will say "Since today I will do XYZ."
But mostly, Bernie doesn't make up accounts this big, he just does stuff as Bernie, and would in this case too, anecdotally looking at his history as I've observed it for close to a year now.
One other thing. Everyone who has been here a bit knows @berniesanders is @nextgencrypto. Why does that matter? Because he admits it freely, it's no secret. Bernie doesn't do such a good job of concealing his connected accounts because he doesn't care. So if he WAS GC, he would have had a hard time keeping the ruse up this long, I think. Just speculation based on his past behaviors I have personally witnessed.

I felt the same way. Everyone keeps telling me that there is no reason to bother talking with him, because he is beyond reason. But - I would like to talk to him very much to try to understand him. I just think it's so counterproductive to the success of Steemit - and everyone seems to want Steemit to progress and thrive. but..... I guess I'm totally naive to these things.

A few months ago I got a message to my private chat in discord, where someone told me (I do not remember the name because delete the chat) that if I continued using bots were going to start giving me negative votes for my inappropriate behavior and they were going to affect my Reputation (just for using bots once in a while) I stopped using bots from that moment, and I certainly panicked because my account is very small
There are many people like me with small accounts that use bots to be visible, and much of the content I've seen powered by bots is really good, only that many people in Steemit are still invisible.

He had a pretty strong hatred of Black folks, and did some pretty questionable things outside of his anti-imperial actions. I personally prefer not to lionize him, and I know that many Black people feel the same.

I was at the University of Ghana when this statue was put up, and took courses with professors who signed the petition to remove the statue.
This was news to me. We never heard that he hated anyone for that matter. I am not a historian and don't want to fan any controversy here. Truth is a strange thing. No one will ever know.
Actually, Gandhi wrote and published writings using slurs and saying hateful things about Black South Africans. In this case, we can know, because there is plenty of evidence, some of which can be read for free online right now. It is a matter of historical record.
