Bill Laurance is an English keyboardist, songwriter and record producer who plays different styles of jazz and electronic music, and is one of the original members of the jazz-funk-fusion collective Snarky Puppy and founder and CEO of the Flint Music label. He is an artist in residency at Morley College and has taught master classes at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, both in London. He is also involved in the fight against climate change and has signed the Music Declares Emergency, which calls for “an immediate governmental response to protect all life on Earth.” As a child, he learned to play piano in primary school and was part of the school band.

At the age of nine Laurence played organ during a visit with his school to London at the Union Chapel, where live entertainment and help for the homeless is offered. After taking ragtime and swing lessons, he started playing jazz in a small restaurant in London before enrolling the University of Leeds, where he studied classical music, composition and performance. Then he met jazz student Michael League and they gave several live shows around the United Kingdom. In 2004 League invited him to join his new group Snarky Puppy and he participated in eleven of its albums from 2006 to the last so far in 2019.
