Not long ago I moved house and I really like where I live which, in my opinion, is an important element of feeling that one's life is settled - or maybe that one is settled within one's life I suppose.
Society seems hell-bent on doing things with the sole intent to impress others, seek validation and relevance but for me I just want to feel comfortable, settled, content and happy in my own life so I surround myself with things that do that. People who judge...well, I don't care what judgmental people think; I don't do things to impress others - I live my life, they don't, so I feel no compulsion to do the things they (society) thinks I should do. Accept and like me for me, or fuck off, to put it bluntly.
Nature is a big part of my life; I grew up in a small rural town where one could see for miles without spotting a building so having a garden and spending time in it is important, the connection to nature, so I made sure that was incorporated into my property. Inside it's really comfortable and set up how I like it...a space created by myself and partner for ourselves.
I feel a deep sense of contentment when I'm at home and often a deep sense of resentment when I have to leave it whether for work trips or otherwise. It's my space, the one I created and...well I guess the saying a man's home is his castle exists for a reason.
What's a good day
Spending time in my house and garden doing things like reading, cooking, napping in my hammock, tinkering in my workshop or on my vehicles, watching shows with my girlfriend, playing chess, gardening, having "picnics" in our garden, entertaining the few friends we allow to come to our house...simple things are what makes up a good day.
We don't have to go out for entertainment and to feel like we're "living our lives well" because we've created what we feel is something special at home and that's exactly what we wanted. Sure, we love to go out too, we love to travel and explore and we do a lot of that, but being at home is never boring; it fills us with a deep sense of belonging, togetherness and contentment.
What's a good day for you? What do you do, where do you go and what does it look like? Do you feel the need to be "entertained" or do you feel happiness in simple moments? Feel free to comment.

Your days sound nice and chill ^_^ Currently a "good day" will be when I get back on track (I'm down to 2-2.5 weeks behind from 3 thanks to a bunch of unrelated incidents that occurred in the last few weeks, the one that I knew about last week was the biggest problem but there was a bunch of unforeseen and unrelated stuff prior that actively prevented me from being able to get ahead/on top of everything else in preparation).
I'm assuming we're going with normal everyday little things rather than major events so normally a good day would involve getting into some art, pottering around in the garden (we always say that's what we're doing but as we're still in the establishing stage it's very little pottering and still a fair bit of work XD), playing with the pets, hanging out with J (we may go out to bookshops or nurseries or something but usually just stay home) and/or the kids (sometimes going out but usually just chatting) and/or whoever else (usually going to them because people rarely come to me, sometimes it's purely practical like in the case of my parents when they visit I don't like to make my aunty drive long distances or friends we're visiting have houses that are better set up for "entertaining", other times it feels like it's just because I'm the one that cba making the effort). And going to work because I enjoy my job.
We're going to feel this way because we're introverts though, some of the people who are "showing off" on social media are probably actually just showing off/trying to get likes or whatever but there will be a bunch of extraverts who feel that's what a good day entails.
I think your situation sounds a lot like ours. We are pretty private people with an intentionally small circle and tend to find a lot of enjoyment in togetherness and simple things rather than having to make a bloody event out of everything. We have no need or desire to create/fabricate "realities" for social media.
I do like to lightly embellish stories for social media (like when I used to post shenanigans comics) as I find it much more entertaining to make. I think I'd rather fabricate/reality in real life rather than just for social media x_x
Simple moments for me. Just out having a croissant in a wee local bakery and taking a moment just to sit. Aaahhh 😃
I did that today actually. A cafe, my Kindle and some tasty breakfast. It's a rather enjoyable time.
It is a fine way to spend part of the day!!
Saturdays through to about 4pm are all mine usually so that's my day to cafe-sit although I usually only do that in the morning or for lunch as I'm off shooting or some other thing most Saturdays. Depending on my schedule I'll have a long breakfast or lunch and read, people watch and eat what's called a "big breakfast". Eggs, bacon, hash brown, sausage, mushrooms, grilled tomato, avocado, wilted spinac and sourdough or some variation of that depending on where I am. Lunch is often the same. Lol...thank Thor for "all day breakfast".
Usually I work at home most of the times (I like it as office sucks balls), so when I got some free time I like to go out for a walk or something... An ideal good day for me is a day at the beach, lay there, read, eat something, do a little nap, hear the noise of the waves... Girls🤣
A walk at the beach is always good, many nice views as you have pointed out. 😬
It also trains your stealth skills, to avoid guillotine from the partner 😂
Haha, indeed that's true!
We are alike in this matter. This winter, and even before I wasn't getting out much. But now I am enjoying outside much more. Enjoying our flowers. Trying to plant me some veggies. Enjoying doing little chores around the house. Finally checking things off the honey-do list. Coffee on the back patio in the morning. Listen to the birds. Hopefully the sound of nearby traffic is down. Love it.
I think it's a more settled and "together" person that is able to enjoy the simpler things without the need for being constantly entertained. What do you think?
I agree. Good scenery, a pleasant landscape picture, fishing pole, or nice book. That is good enough "entertainment". Not to say I don't enjoy my sport or a good TV show. But can live without and still love life.
I get ya.
Pretty Much a...

I Feel the same as you.
Yep, I expected as much. It all seems to make sense right?
A good day is one that makes us feel complete and happy. And I think home is where we all loves to be...recently I went to my New Delhi after a gap of 2 years. But I could not able to go out to any malls or restaurant just because of traffic pollution noises and oryer things . I think we all like to be in peace
Traffic and pollution...sounds terrible.
High humidity temperature making it mkre horrible.
For sure!
I like going to concerts along with friends and having fun joining running events, but any normal day that I have at home is a good day for me as long as I don't have any enemies or worry about how to survive the next day. Just playing some games, petting my dogs, listening to music, and even doing household chores can make my day full without the need to go to any fancy place.
Well said, I totally get where you're coming from.
For me, a good day consists of very simple things: a peaceful wake up, the love of my cats, a walk in nature, some delicious mate, a good meal, good music, working at a leisurely pace, and perhaps a good film. Feeling at peace with myself in whatever I do and savouring the little moments, life is made up of those moments. Yesterday I had a lovely day, walking at a leisurely pace in an eleven-hectare park. I invited my family along, we had a picnic and admired the incredible views. That’s what peace feels like!
It sounds pretty good to me.
It was brilliant!
That does sound like a really amazing day. Actually what I pretty much spent the day doing today, except for the relaxing part. It was like a non stop work fest getting things ready for the summer! I'm just about dead!
Bring on Summer!
What a nice place to live @galenkp
It sure is.
Congrats to you for this new place :)
Beautiful place you live sir..
A good day for me is when I accomplished my goals for that day, something visit the nearest river for some cool moments and rest.. I just wish I could live a life without reflecting on what people say about me..
It sure is, I've worked hard in my life to have the opportunity to have nice things.
Sure sir, hard work really pays.. just trying to work hard to live my dream life...

STOPSimple moments. Being surrounded by family and/or friends. Hanging out on the bed with Ellie watching movies. The small pleasures of having a slow day, but still crossing off some stuff from the to do list.
But also the crazy days, those that are super busy and one gets one thing done after the other. Those that are tiring, but also create that feeling of having made progress in many ways.
