~Day 2~ Splatts gets in the Gym~ A little sore

When one hasn’t done any sort of “working-out”in years, you are bound to be pretty sore the next few days. I actually wasn’t too bad when I woke up this morning. It did however feel really good to stretch and get the body moving this morning. I’m sore, but it not unbearable. My legs weren’t feeling it very much but my pectoral muscles were a different story. Lol

Yesterday was my First Day in the gym in a very long time. As today marks Day 2 I decided up the weight amounts on some lifts just a little. I want those last couple reps to be hard to finish. I’m going to do this 3 Sets of 10 reps workouts for a few weeks, then I am going to lighten up the weight and increase the amount of sets and reps for a few weeks. I might not get as many different exercises in but I think this should bring me some good results. Gotta keep those muscles guessing.

Day 2

5:10 A.M.
  • 1/2 Mile on Elliptical
    resistance 12
    Approx 5 minutes
  • Leg Press 200lbs
    3 Sets of 10
  • pull-ups wide
    3 Sets of 5
  • Pull-ups narrow
    3 Sets of 5
  • Seated Row 80lbs
    3 Sets of 10
  • Leg Curls 60lbs
    3 Sets of 10
  • Leg Extension 60lbs
    3 Sets of 10
  • Dumbbell Bench Press 35lbs each
    3 Sets of 10
    I also worked on my abs a little bit today
  • Hanging Knee Raises
    3 Sets of 20
    Then I tied this a few times

This was a serious Butt-Kicker!!! I could only get 3 pull-ups in along with the knee raises before I just couldn’t pull myself up again. Hey it’s just day 2, I shouldn’t be so hard on myself, plus it was toward the end of my workout:wink:wink

Doing the wide grip pull-ups really helped to stretch my pecs out and also give them a little bit of abuse too.

I finished my workout with another 1/2 Mile on the Elliptical Machine resistance set at 12, it took approx. 5 minutes. To be honest I was really hard to finish but I made it happen. I chugged down my 32oz Gut Bomb and I have some broccoli and ranch for a snack along with 4 cans of tuna mixed with sweet pickle chunks, mayo, mustard and honey mustard, plus a banana and an apple. That should tide me over for the day.

As you can tell I don’t have a “scripted” workout. I’m just making this up as I go along and it will change over time

If you want a good stretch for your specs, try dips. I like how it feels, but my wife hates it.

Pull ups are my favorite exercise. They are hard to do right, but when you start using the right muscles it feels like you are flying.

So many muscles are used when doing pull-ups. I actually did some dips this morning. They feel goooood lol. I also took 15 lb dumbbells laid on a bench and did butterflies but I let the weigh bring my arms waaaaay back and stretch my pecs. That was amazing. Lol
