So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week, which is “LITERACY”.

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “STEREOTYPES”.

This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their experiences with stereotypes and how it has affected their way of life. Just about everyone has experienced being stereotyped at one time or another, and for many, it’s never a pleasant experience.

We got to see the different ways that being stereotyped can hurt people, and how it only serves to pull society backwards. It’s never helpful for anyone, and it can only lead to missed opportunities for those who get stereotyped. This was an enlightening topic, indeed.

For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w174e1 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there, it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors, will be listed below.

This author told us that everyone, to an extent, has also had stereotypical thoughts at one time or another. Stereotypes are formed to simplify and generalize people, and that never helps anyone. Instead, it pulls us backward and brings about nothing but pain and hate. That’s why, no matter how it’s looked at, stereotypes will never be harmless.

For this author, he told us about his experience with stereotypes and how it has affected him. From an entire tribe being called stingy, to another one labeled promiscuous. He has been faced with so many stereotypes and it usually led to uncomfortable moments for him.

For this author, he told us about how due to his looks, he had always been seen as a rich person. Even as a child, he had to go through this as well, and it led to cases of bullying and extortion for him. This particular issue led to some conflicts, and it only motivated him to work harder and be better.
