So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week, which is “LEARNING/UNLEARNING”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “A SIMPLE EDUCATION”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us their thoughts on the educational system of today and its highly competitive nature. The school environment should be conducive for everyone, not just physically, but also mentally. If students have to put themselves through intense stress just to make their grades, then it can’t be all that conducive, can it?
We got to see that indeed, the main focus of a school should be imparting knowledge to the students, from academic to financial and social, the necessary knowledge that is needed to survive in today’s world. However, when everything is made to be a competition, and classmates are turned into rivals, it stops being about learning and becomes more about besting each other. And that’s only toxic.
