The end of the weekend. Are you feeling a bit down at the prospect of getting back to pecking away at the coalface with your little pick? Or are you elated at the thought of scoofling about on your knees catching the crumbs from your masters table?
A good question isn't it. Particularly on a Sunday when a lot of us regular folk are faced with the horrifying spectre of work the next day.

It can be a daunting prospect. Sunday's can, therefore be a little fraught with the thought of working the next day.
That why I like to think

What will be will be. You can't change it. Well, I mean technically you could. You could go into work tomorrow and tell your boss to...

quaint Glasgow saying meaning, kindly insert something jabby where it should never be inserted
It's a little coarse but should have the desired effect of getting you that amazing lifestyle change you have been dreaming of. But then, must you really go that far in the pursuit of happiness? Or is it easier to just let go of the worries and stresses of being at work and thinking ce la vie. Which pretty much equates to Fuck it in French.
These thoughts and others bounded through my head as I had lunch with the good lady. I looked over at her at one point and noted she seemed to be a little pre-occupied. She was obviously dwelling on the injustices of life and of having to work the next day.
It's alright lass, fuck it. Let's enjoy life and not worry about such trifles
She looked at me flatly.
When are you cutting the grass?

I understood this immediately. Its a psychological technique called displacement. Obviously, her upset at working the next day was not being faced head on and was manifesting itself in other indirect ways.
I went over and patted her flanks gently in that way that's always been so successful with horses and dogs.
It'll be ok lass. Trust me.
I mean it, it's like a fucking jungle out there. When are you cutting the grass?
Oh, she had it bad. I thought I had better pull out the big guns. I gave her shoulders a quick rub for four seconds then offered her a lovely cup of tea.
She glared at me like I was a wet rat that had crawled out of the sewer and into her mouth.

The grass. Cut it.
Darlin, I know you are just feeling a bit down at the prospect of working tomorrow. The grass can wait. I would rather we did something that made you happy.
Nothing would make me happier than seeing you half naked pushing the lawn mower about sweetie.
But, but. I'm working tomorrow? Maybe I could have a beer instead?
The grass. Cut it.
I had been putting it off for weeks. She had me cold. I gave her my best sad face and tried to muster a small tear.
But, I've got the blues. I've got work tomorrow?!?
Haven't we all? Man up. With that, she swept away imperiously.
Bastard, foiled again I thought. I hate cutting the grass.
I was going to check out your page anyway, because well, something's missing from my day if I don't (in particular boom style humor that makes me spit and spill things on myself) but was actually called over by my name being mentioned by none other than the son's brother.
Yes, that's right @tonyr is our very own @son-of-satire's brother, and a wonderful fellow I can assure you ;) Perhaps you should take him up on his kind offer, maybe this will catapult your long awaited meeting with the son (or my long awaiting you two meeting hahahaha!)
Aha, I thought he sounded Scottish!! Lol, it is a kind offer. There is of course the dread fear that no man should cut another man's grass here in Scotland that has led to so much strife and violence. ;0)
Men! lol! Have you heard about the steemfest in Portugal? Is there any chance of you going? I'll tell you one thing, if I make it to Europe, there are a few people that I MUST see, even if I have to come to them, you included :) I imagine the worry about personality clashes does not extend to women, as in your good lady and I will get on fabulously and roll our eyes at men who find trouble with such things haha!
Haha, of I wish I was going and I would except our second child is being born in October. I get the feeling this one will be even better than the last do I am gutted!!! Do you think you might really go?
Oh, now that is an understandable reason to be unable to come. I am definitely going to try, but I meant it when I said I would come and see the friends in Europe who can't make it, meaning Portugal to Scotland for me! For not just one awesome and hilarious friend who is Boom, but also Son, and now his brother--not to mention I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Scotland.
Scotland's does rawk!! That would be a fabulous thing if you did a tour!!! I would be quite over the moon!
So would I! And guess what? I just received a "nice post" and got to post your link LOLOL
should I lend you the tool so you could use it against your boss?
I mean the grass he he
Yes, that's a fine idea!! For the

It has been a long week ...
It has! And a short weekend!!

You are so very kind, thank you
u r welcome...
As a veteran receiver of displacement, I've told my fair share of excuses that resulted in varying outcomes. Those damn jobs and bosses really need an eleven foot pole shoved where the sun don't shine so that the world would be a better place. I mean, everything is whack just because of the frustration people feel for earning their keep or bringing home bacon and such.
Would you mind helping me lift these heavy boxes so that I could tidy up the house?
Would you mind fetching these stuff? My back is killing me and I can't move.
Help me up! I feel like I'm stepping on glass shards and I can't get up!
All the result of unhappiness with work. Oy vey! The blight that is the professional occupation has got to be put to an end! We good men are suffering even though we did nothing wrong.
We are suffering. Where are the palm leaf waving maidens and the ever bowing waiters attending to every need. Instead I find myself slogging through the awful rain and into the place of work where I find I am the one running about for others... Not fair!!! :0)
This is a question I ask every waking minute. The degree with which the world is unfair is staggering! When's our turn to come out on top?? I guess this really does prove the Earth is flat.
Did you believe otherwise? If yes, the earth is most definitely flat and we are all two dimensional stick men!!
Of course! If we aren't two-dimensional then what are we, 3D?? Ha! That's pure fiction, brother. High-larious. High. Larious.
3D, I have heard the science behind it but I still don't believe it!!!
Those are all lies, I tell you what!! It's the government poisoning our minds, trying to make us think that we are more than X and Y coordinates. Those bastards!
For the Brave Men only. "Yes dear, shal I srart the mower for you now?"
Helps if you have a big dog box to live in, or, maybe you won't be able to go to work on monday, to many bandages/plaster etc
It would definitely be the bandages plaster situation!!
I solved this problem years ago. Go to Home Depot and buy a set of his and hers mowers. They have shovels that will fit her too! It may be a little tense for a few weeks, but she will get used to it.
Haha, will normally she doesn't mind taking a turn but she is getting quite far on in her pregnancy now so has a pass!!
Hello @meesterboom you have good post today.
I like it so much.
Visit my blog to @joe28 need help to be like you
Thank you very much!!
You are welcom
This is great! Quite a fun read and I was drawn in the entire time.
Toperoo !! Thank you very much!!
Probably a good thing you don't work as a lawn maintenance person.
I would have to agree on that front!!
Those Monday's would be tough.
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow, that's for sure...
Good grief, where to begin!!!
Hmm, that's the sound my Stihl weed-whacker makes, right before I pull the cord.
Ha, that's the kind of noise I would hope it would sound like!
Entertaining post! You are a character for sure!
Raar. I do try my hardest!!! :0)
Sunday evenings my saddest night once upon a time, now have shoved @meesterboom 's ten foot pole right down it's shithole😅😄😂
You have the bravery!!! I commend you!!! :0D
Thank you meester😊
Your welcome mate!
Probably wont work tomorrow!... Or at least not in my "real life" job anyway...
Then I take my hat off to ya!! :0)
haha... there are several reasons for this... My country is in a crisis, protests wont allow me to even reach my working place (University)... And second reason is, i earn more money here in steemit and working at home as a freelancer than in my "real life jobs"
In that case a big double well done!!! I am full of respect for you!
thanks! hehe
This is a great Sunday for me, the wife and I are off to Italy for our honeymoon! ;) The dread of work will be put off for the next two weeks! You enjoy cutting that grass though!
Oh hot flippity!! Well done and congrats. I hope you have an amazing time!! I shall in the meantime cut grass and mope about work tomorrow!!
I left the grass to be cut by my brother while we're away, take solice in knowing he has already texted me saying he hates our yard and may just kill off the grass in our absence!
Haha, my brother would tell me to chase myself if I asked him to do mine so count yourself lucky!!!
Hahah, we're letting him live with us, so I consider it part of his chores :D
Ha, you have him over the proverbial barrel then!! Hehe
Watch what you wish for @meesterboom.
Perhaps.......by this time next year.......writing at Steemit will be your day job.....that and day trading.....
Kindest Regards,,,,,,Fairy Godmother
hilarious post @meesterboom! Following!
Who can resist a compliment! Following you back and thanks!
Cant say im looking forward to the monday morning blues in the office but hey got to make a living a provide for the family.
I know, I think the same thing. I still get em bad though. I used to dream that it would get easier as I got older but no!
Thats why im being naughty and having a couple of beers tonight . Make the most out of a sunday i suppose!!
Few beers inspires for a few steemit posts
Inspiration did quite often come from it!! Have a good beer!! I might have a couple myself but the nights in a row could be pushing it. Then again, is only work!!!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! :-)
Hahaha!! Glad it got a laugh!!
It did indeed - you're very funny & witty and I enjoy reading your posts! ;-)
I try my bestest!! I really get a kick out of makng them!! So Cheers very much!!
Glad to hear it! And keep them coming!
Shall do my utmost!
So funny! Sundays can be so bittersweet!
Yes indeed, Mondays are never do bad but the thought on a Sunday always is meh!
Very good story from you @meesterboom
Cheers @barvon! A tale of drama and shattered dreams!
You are right ...
Thank you for sharing ^_^
You are welcome: 0)
Makes me feel grateful I kicked "Mondays" out of my life, almost 20 years ago. On the other hand... these days it's sometimes harder to know what day of the week it is (pulls out world's smallest violin...)
However-- to get back to your story-- it was the dreading of Mondays that propelled me out the door (permanently) from any connections with Korporate Amerika. So if there's a saving grace about Mondays, it might be that they have a way of sneaking up on us and reminding us that whatever hamster wheel we might be caught on probably isn't where we really want to be.
Great post-- enjoyed it!
I am glad you enjoyed it!! Damn but I hate Mondays. I am so pleased you got out of it. It is my aim that one day I can do it before I have to retire. I totally agree with what you say. If you dread them them it kinda tells you something!!!
To avoid the lawn, you needed to invoke the lord...
I might invoke whatever it takes to avoid that creeping monster at my door!!
Very nicely written mate
Thank you very much mate!
I know that Sunday sadness too well. Luckily, tomorrow is a holiday here, but I'll keep that 10' pole handy for when I need it next weekend ;-)
Ever considered spending some Steem on a robo mower??
A robo mower? Seriously, can you get such a thing? I know you can get robo vacuum cleaners but didn't know about anything else!!
I hope you enjoy that holiday tomorrow mate!!
Heck yeah you can! Google it :) The botanical gardens in Oslo uses them, and I have a friend with a farm out in the country that just got one too. Your lawn might look like your drunk uncle was in charge of cutting the grass after a couple hours, but its totally worth it for the entertainment value alone - its hilarious watching them make decisions about avoiding obstacles.
Imagine how sweet that beer will taste next Sunday as you sit on the porch watching those pesky blades of grass getting the 10' pole by their silent stalker, your new best friend ;-)
Haha. I am totally going to look. The missus will say no but I really do think that would be hilarious!! And such joy to watch something ridiculously try to mow my lawn. I will Google it now!
I'm assuming your boss isn't on Steemit?
Lol, most definitely not. Otherwise I would have to retire meesterboom and start up a new account!!
meestersacked
Just checked- @meestersacked is available.
Lol, I actually get on quite well with my boss. She would probably giggle :0)
A rare boss indeed.
My bosses usually like me, I seem to be likeable ;0) but she is good :0)
Suggestion : put your goats in the garden ! |:-)
I need goats!!! :0D
hahahahahaha, lol, | :)-
One thing about the grass is that the longer I wait the hotter it gets. So I guess I cut the grass tomorrow.
Yeah, the grass waits for no man unfortunately!!
"Shove a ten foot pole right up yer hole"
Maaaaan this cracked me up!! GOOD POST!!
Haha, Cheers dude!! It's a corker of a saying eh!!
You're safe for a few weeks now. Maybe consider a few highlander coos to take care of the job. You'll be the envy of the street. Or maybe just try it with a few sheep, see how it all works out.
I think it would be awesome to have a few highlander coos wandering a bout my back. Then again I would probably have to deal with a mountain of poop!!
Still, to be the envy of the street! :O)
Yea, did not wanna mention that poo thingy, just a detail, it is fertilizer, so your grass will be even greener. The street green of envy... =D
Green streets. Yeah!
Make it so! =D
It was on the tip of my tongue :0)
LOL
I like your humorous writing. Will follow
Why thank you very much :0)
Hahaha, great read. light side of life.
Thank you very much!!
