Kite's Gliders and Signal Fires

in #landscapephotography6 years ago (edited)

On a recent visit to Dunstable downs in the Chiltern hills we decided to fly a kite. The grandkids loved it and they played all afternoon. The simple pleasures of childhood.

We were on the top of the ridge and in the valley below there is a glider school so we had another kind of flying display from the gliders. It's #monochromemonday so enjoy.

It was great fun running around trying to get the kite and gliders in a photograph together.

Then we got a bit arty and tried to get some weird angle shots.

This is the London glider club down in the valley. It's along way from London?

This is a signal fire which is lit on special days like the Queens birthday or to signal that we are being invaded yet again? A bit like in the Lord of the Rings :)

It wasn't lit this day so it must be just another day. We had a great day out :)

I learned sometbing new today about the signal towers.

I have flown in gliders and love the sound of silence as the release is deployed. Playing with lift is quite enjoyable.

I love flying kites. Msrch is always tje best month here - almost always.

Killer shots!

I have just read your post about the kites, and I think it is one of the hobby of the children, but in my village during the rice harvest season, it is not the children whose flight is flying, but people are adults , it's very nice, because it's not just for kids the adults are also very fond of the kites, I myself really like the kite, thanks my dear friend @molometer

That sounds like a lot of fun. You could blog about the the rice harvest and tell us why the adults fly the kites at this time. Very interesting @kabil tip!

yes because the rice harvest in my village only twice a year, and at the time of harvest of rice yes that's when people fly kites, because if for example there is still rice in the rice field that can not fly kites, that's the custom here, and the adults who fly their kites at night and they are competing, because a year twice, thanks my dear friend @molometer

A video of the kites flying over the rice fields may be a good idea.

Nice highlight in that final shot - makes it feel like a sentinel watching over the landscape. Very LOTR indeed! I always loved looking out for them whenever I went down the coast, made me feel like I was in one of the films :)

The signal fire wasn't lit. They must not have known you were coming. Some great shots, Molometer:)

There were quite a few people up there. A kind of mini invasion of the hills with kites lol

I was very touched to see this kite kite friend @molometer when I was small I really like to kite kite karna used to be my little time this kite game is a very fun game.

Hi Hamdan, have you tried using Google translate? It may help clarify your comments ;) thanks

posting a very amazing friend @molometer I really enjoy your post. friend. @molometer

Thank you bgdan glad you liked it.

I loved flying kite as a kid. I’m not sure if it was the kites or that it was always an activity at the beach. We never seemed to fly them anywhere else. Your post, though, makes me a little melancholy because I’ve just realized we never took my son kite flying at the beach when he was little. 😔

I like the way the light plays around the signal tower in the last image.

It's never to late to fly a kite with your son. My son was with us as well on this day out with his wife and children. :) it's great fun.

I think we might just do that if we can ever get back to the beach.

I have to saw I like the arty shots! Oh and glad you were not being invaded today :)

It was a great day not to get invaded lol
Getting my art hat on more regularly is great fun too.

I like this..resteem it

Thanks zimco. Much appreciated.
