I took these two photographs of the Ouse fen nature reserve today. It's a lovely place and always peaceful and serene.
The photos were taken just seconds apart. Basically the time it took to change the lens. I'm doing these tests using the same camera and two different lenses while standing in the same position to show the considerable difference in the size of the field of view between the two lenses.
The first photograph was taken using a Canon 50 mm lens. You can see it has a close up aspect to it. Almost like you have zoomed in. I was standing about 30 feet (9.1 meters) away from the tree. The colour seems much richer with the 50 mm?

The second photograph below was taken using a Sigma 10-20 mm lens and as you may see the field of view is considerable wider. This lens shows you more or less what your eyes see. If you look through the viewfinder with your right eye and then open your left eye. You can see that it captures basically everything that you can see.
On the edges of the image below you get this kind of curving fishbowl effect which is often seen in action cameras like go pro's etc.

Both photographs were taken using fully automatic mode. Auto focus and the settings were the same for both photos. The advantage of the 10-20 lens is that you can crop it to suit your need as it picks up a lot of light detail. The 50 mm is good for distant objects I am finding. I have used both for astrophotography and they both worked well.
I'm still hunting the Perseid meteoroid shower but have had a lot of cloud cover in the last few days.
Stars and a lot of cloud

Wow. What a huge difference @molometer. It's hard to believe you're standing in the exact same position in both photographs. 😁
I know it's pretty wild. If you look at the bottom of the second photo you can see the bonnet of my car.
I was standing by my car door swapping lenses and looking like a loon ha ha.
I've heard that "loon" is the in look these days @molometer. You're so on trend. 😂
I had a pair of loon pants in the 70's so I must be well ahead of the trend ha ha
I coveted a pair of loon pants in the 70's too @molometer but they required stick thin legs and I never had those. 😢
@molometer Though I am not so good at photography, but your pictures truly reveal your photography skills. We can clearly visiualise the photos taken by two different lens. Thanks buddy.
Thank you Rohit, I'm only just getting started with this camera and having a lot of fun in the process. Glad you liked the photos.
