Stress is a problem that affects more and more people in this modern era. Finding some times for ourselves is not always possible. I always try to find time to do things that I like and that is relaxing me.
Recently, I got back to do Rock Balancing which is an interesting way of forgetting about everyday issues. I just focus on the rock and how gravity works on it. Finding the balance on the rock also means finding the balance in my mind.
I have three little pebbles at work so I can sometimes take my head away from the headache.
But what I love best is head out on the beach and balance rocks by the sea.
The idea behind Rock Balancing is to find three points of contact between the top and bottom rock. It's like a stool, it needs at least three legs in order to be stable. Those points of contact can be formed by placing the top rock in a little groove on the rock below. As you become more advance, the groove can be smaller to almost not visible to the bare eyes.
Start with small rocks but not too small as their weight help keeping them stable. Lighter rocks tend to fall off balance rather fast. Also the smoother their surface, the harder it will be to balance them.
If it gets too difficult, take a break, close your eyes, listen to the sea, take a deep breath and try again. There is no rush, there is no pressure to succeed.
Just enjoy the moment, the place, the natural environment, don't forget to breathe.
I find larger rocks are easier to balance, once close to their balanced position, they don't fall over fast giving you enough time to re-adjust them.
Choose one that you can lift without too much effort and beware of not dropping it on your feet!
After completing your work, don't forget to break it down. Not only this is an ephemeral art but it's also safer for other people.

Oh it's such a lovely meditation to do! And when I come across the ones that other people have done it always makes me smile, as if they've been happy in that place for a moment or two.... Beautiful post, dear @quochuy!
Thank you 😊.
Some balanced rocks look alive and telling us a story.

wow I love what you have shared here and those rocks that you have balanced are amazing, what a wonderful way to bring balance back to yourself xx
Thank you 🙏
And it’s easier to meditate that way than trying to sit still and think of nothing or focus on your breathe which I can difficultly achieve.

Very inspiring, art and sculpture as a meditation. A very zen moment in nature.
