My answer is a straight NO. For me, the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages. And I’m saying this from experience, not just theory.
There’s this guy that my sister was supposed to get married to; but he wanted them to cohabit and she said no. That “no” changed everything — attitude started, connection died, relationship ended. Although it wasn’t easy for her to move on but at the same time she was grateful, she didn’t loose anything and didn’t regret it either. Imagine after cohabiting and it didn’t work out Omo her healing process for long 😂
So my take is; if someone truly likes you, they like you. If someone wants to marry you, they’ll marry you. Cohabiting won’t fast-track it. And fearing “but what if I don’t know their real character?” won’t be solved by packing your bags into his house either. Let’s be real; people can pretend. For weeks, months, and even years as the case maybe. But pretence has an expiry date. You will see the real them with time. That’s why you need God. That’s why you need the Holy Spirit to discern. And if you don’t have that discerning spirit yet? You still have options. Visit your partner, spend a weekend, Do life together in small doses. Go out, have deep conversations, meet their friends, see how they act when they’re tired, hungry, or anything at all. Character shows up in moments, not just under one roof. Besides, some married couples live together and don’t talk. So cohabiting isn’t the magic key. You don’t have to move in to know someone.
Cohabiting kills motivation too. Motivation in the sense that, the guy especially won’t have that motivation to get married to you. You’ve given him the full package, so what’s the essence of rushing things? 😂 You’ll even loose yourself in the process. You would want to be a “pick-me” by default because you want to please him. As the guy, your finances will go down as well. Whether you’re a believer or not, you guys will have sex and even get tired to the point of sex not being sacred. And if you don’t get married, oh boy! You go too cry. You’ll even be sacred to enter a new relationship because of the hurt from the previous.
Although cohabiting has helped some people in their defense o; but my people, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
In conclusion;
For me, it’s a NO. I don’t encourage cohabiting. Scared of not knowing him? Spend intentional time together, not your entire life in his apartment. If it’s yours, it’ll be yours. No need to rehearse marriage to earn marriage.

According to Wikipedia, cohabitation is an arrangement in which people who are not legally married live together as a couple. This means they function exactly like married couples do. They eat together, discuss their plans, engage in sexual activities, and face difficult times together. Over time, just as you come to know your siblings better by sharing your space with them, those who cohabit also learn more about their partners.
There are habits one might not discover about their partner without spending significant time together (not just weekends). So, it a fact that cohabitation reveals a lot and helps people understand what they can tolerate in marriage with a potential marriage. However, it is not a foolproof approach to a long-lasting marriage, as people who cohabit still get divorced like others. They also encounter issues and navigate difficult periods in their relationships.
The average woman often takes on more responsibilities and may give up their independence in cohabitation, especially since she is likely the one to move into the man’s space. In that sense, cohabitation may not be ideal for a woman who is not liberated in her thoughts and actions. It is certainly not for those who have not realized that over familiarity and exploitation can occur in any relationship dynamic.
I also understand why religious people push back against cohabitation. But, the fact that many of them still engage in sexual activities before marriage makes the point of temptation and "sin" irrelevant to the discussion.
In conclusion, the average marriage in our society faces most of the same issues encountered during cohabitation, even down to finance and property claims. So, what exactly justifies the demonization? I would say, just very little. So, cohabitation can be beneficial for individuals who are genuinely interested in challenging unhealthy societal norms and creating more livable relationship experiences before marriage. Ultimately, I believe people should make choices that work best for them.

I'll never approve of co-habitting before marriage, it's not healthy at all, neither is it a guarantee that the marriage will be the "they lived happily forever after" type. Some even claim it's a way of studying their partners so they can better understand them. Continue studying. You wan understand who you no create?

When a woman packs her bags and baggages and moves in with a man who hasn't done anything, not even "small thing" on her head, otilo for her. My opinion — I personally don't have any issues with cohabiting as long as it is done right and the reasons you're cohabiting are well defined. I believe it can be a learning phase where each partner gets to know the other better before actually committing.
On the other hand I don't believe it's a foolproof approach to a long lasting marriage, as marriage is a different ball game and wether you decide to cohabit or not has little to no effect on wether the marriage would last, I've seen people cohabit and go on to live perfect lives and also that doesn't mean one should do it or not do it as marriage itself is like a consensus with each partner having a 50% vote so I'll say it is more like a situation where you guys have to choose each other everyday, and if at any point any of them decide not to, the marriage can immediately come to an abrupt end. And it has been proven that marriages have a 60% chance of failing.
Conclusion — marriages fail, cohabiting can fail as well, I'd rather fail at cohabiting than have a failed marriage. Thank you.

This whole cohabitation is just a simple explanation or comparison. You were supposed to be presented a gift for your birthday in November and we are still in February, but then you were the one who went to get the gift at the market yourself in this same Feb (you had the right partner you love willingly and out of real emotions) and then you started living and seeing the gift everyday, opening and seeing it...

I tell people when you are going into marriage of any relationship.
Just pray that God should give you someone that understands you and is ready to adjust where need be and also love you.
Because no particular formula is suitable for any relationship.
Some people cohabit fie years and still end up divorcing after few years of marriage. And i have seen people who met and get married in less than a month and they are still together till date.
Cohabiting works , because you get to know and understand the person, but it's not a guarantee for a successful and romantic relationship.
In sum we should just pray that everything works for us.
While cohabiting could actually lead to better understanding of one's partner, the consequences overweight the benefits. The few times I've shared with my partner helped me understand how she sleeps, whether or not she snores, those habits that may not have been visible for the days of few meetings, time she wakes, her prayer life and so many. However, she doesn't stay for so long but those few days help me better understand her and help me adapt to somethings earlier. But I keep a balance
When one cohabit for too long, sometimes one partner begins to lose interest in the other, feels enslaves, or worse becomes pregnant and that's where everything starts to get wrong. The only time people respect you the most is when they know little or nothing about it , unfortunately cohabiting takes this privilege and makes you judge your worth.

Most people will agree that it is better to know your partner before getting married. One major way to achieve that is cohabitation.
I'd like to explore the positive side of cohabitation. I think most of the times, people do cohabitation wrongly.
First, it's something that should be done when the intention is marriage.
Also, it should have a purpose and designated period of time.
In fact, it gives a glimpse to how life will be like in marriage. But then, in cohabitation, rules have to be placed, plans have to be made.
In other words, I'm trying to say cohabitation isn't that bad.
Even though there have been cases where people cohabited and the marriage didn't work, I still believe that those who would want to try it should try it the right way.
You don't want to get into marriage with someone you don't really know.
I'll like to tackle this from the religious, cultural and personal aspect. Most of the religious people are against it because it's against what the belief or what they have been told to believe because it's a "sin". So to them, there's no way around that. I'm not religious anyways. In the cultural aspect, nothing much on that because in some cultures, some are in support whilst some ain't. But looking at it from my personal view, I see no bad in it because I'm in support. Now in general, cohabiting boils down to the people involved, if they like it, no one should stop them and it builds deeper love if those people understand eachother, it is definitely a test for compatibility which they can easily work on what they like and don't should they end up together eventually. Though without it, what is going to work will work. But in my opinion, I'm not against it because this relationship thing works differently for everyone. And no women should be falsed to give up her independence in the process.

It's a rainy Sunday , even though I fell inside mud while going to church,I still went like that oo..no turning back , and quickly I learned that as Christians we should always be prayerful , show love , and protect one another whenever it's needed!

I went to church today like I always do. I'm not like my girl @van.illa. one of the many things I took home from the sermon today is the importance in always staying closer to God in all situations, remaining positive and the final prayer at the end of the sermon.

Good evening everyone, sorry that this is coming this late, I have been offline. Today i didn't go to church, it rained cat's and dog, my whole street was flooded heavily, that not even bike could pass. Hopefully i will attend next week and I will share God's love with you.
