Lock Jaw

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Father's Day in November is terrible in Finland. Mother's Day is in the spring and is likely to be warmish and sunny, after a long winter. November though, is cold, dark, rainy and perhaps if there is snow like today, slushy. It didn't help that we also hadn't had time to rake the autumn leaves earlier, and with freezing temperatures and more snow this week coming, we spent a few hours doing that.

Spring would be a better time. Or summer.

But, since it is just another day for the most part, it doesn't really matter much. There was a nice breakfast of some fruit and a croissant, with fresh coffee in the morning and we did go out for a meal in the early evening - pancakes. That is all very much appreciated. I also got a "jaw massage" as a gift.

Which might be a hint that I talk too much.

A long time ago I was actually told that the reason that people get sore jaw muscles, is because they don't talk enough. We "bite our tongue" rather than saying what is on our mind and the muscles in our jaw get tight, causing issues like tension headaches. I think there might be something to this theory.

The best Father's Day present would have been, HIVE going 50-100% today. That would have been pretty awesome. I am "patiently" waiting for the pump to come, but it doesn't seem to want to grant the gift. Whilst RUNE has gone about 400% in the last month or so, HIVE is trickling along, adding about 30% in the same time. It will happen of course (no guarantees), it might just take a bit longer.

HIVE is a laggard.

Which is interesting, considering it is one of the few tokens that actually has a working product in use daily by many people, is doing more than churning out tokens, and supports many projects. Which I think is part of the problem. Most of the other projects trade in hype, which is hard to do when there is something solid to see and interact with. When the community is only looking for Lambo! what is the long-term viability?

Good.

Because currently, the entire space is filled with promise-ware. Not many of these projects would hold up under business requirements, but they are enough to get people investing into them, who have already invested and made some money on other cryptos. It isn't that they are all useless, but many are and many will amount to zero, as there is no team who can actually turn what they have into something useful.

Running a successful global business is hard.

Just ask Splinterlands.

But, because this is still largely the wild west with stupid money involved, there can be a lot of "good ideas" that have no way to be built. Yet, they will still get investment. This is one of the challenges with an infant industry that still hasn't been well defined, because anyone can make claims and attract investment. And, this is even more of an issue in crypto, because faceless people can make claims and attract investment. As we have seen in the last year or two, there is a lot of shady shit going on in the background of the largest projects, even when they are meant to be somewhat legislated, so what happens in the smaller ones?

I don't know.

Does anyone?

This is part of the challenge with them not having to be part of the normal business systems, not having to have an annual report, or meet accounting guidelines at all. There is no practical way to do real due diligence on most of these projects, so it is largely just guess work and hoping that it will work out okay, or at least, it will pump and one can exit before it dumps.

I don't mind HIVE lagging in price, and I don't mind the slow growth. What I would like is a steady increase, even if slow, based on a growing userbase that sees the value of Hive. Because, that means that even in the pumps, people won't be dumping all they have, because they will still want to participate in the community. And are also likely to buy back in to have more stake.

I hope at some point, it will be difficult for the dumpers to get back in significantly, because price will hold up, because people won't want to sell.

Dreams.

For now though, I will rest my jaw from all this nonsense talk...

And bite my tongue.

Sounds like an okay day even if it’s just another day 🙃 let us know how the jaw massage went 😆

Sorry to hear about the crummy timing for Finnish Father's Day. Here in the USA it is always the 2nd Sunday of June and coincides with the final day of the PGA (golf) Tour's major US Open.

I also don't think I will have much issue with a tight jaw, as I run my mouth quite a bit too! Especially now that I am in front of 10-12 year-olds in school, I do so much talking!

There are quite a few pros and cons to anonymity. It is good for safety and security, but allows for bad actors to run amok and say things without facing many repercussions. I've never been too high on my anonymity, but maybe I will take it more seriously as I prepare to become a HIVE/SPS millionaire before the end of the decade!

The weekend probably starts with Beer and Blowjob day....

Are you enjoying it?

It is okay... by then, you will be able to buy a seat to crypto Mars.

Beer and Blowjob day....

I'm not really a fan of either. Make mine marijuana and missionary!

the teaching is going really well. I think the school is well organizes for a smaller charter school, with only 100 kids splint into four classes per grade. And in each of the three classes that I teach, there will be 1 or 2 other teachers in there for support. I only have to plan for the 5th graders, while I am the support teacher for the two 6th grade classes I teach. Very helpful environment and all the staff I've met so far seem like they are there for the kids, not just an easy paycheck!

Also, I've got no interest in Mars. Maybe Costa Rica or Portugal... close to the beach, but not TOO close that we'll drown when there's polar caps finally melt away. I feel badly for all my friends who move to Florida. But maybe Colorado will be my final destination after all!

Ah, excuse me sir, but what if Hive's gift is the friends we made along the way?

That is for the other 364 days of the year. 365 on leap years.

In fact, I don't understand why it is in November, in a cold season of the year there. Here, it is after Mother's Day; namely, in June :)

June would be far better!
I have no idea. It is probably because they are just filling up space with nothing important before Christmas.

Interesting. Perhaps my migraine of the last two days had to do with speaking too little ( about certain things ). I sure like to talk too but I spend even more time thinking ;^)

Glad I'm not a father ( in Finland ), although I feel I do deserve an 'Uncle Day', for my efforts in the last 10 years or so.

My daughter does her best to avoid uncomfortable conversations. I have to do a better job of getting her to speak up.

Uncle day would be alright too. As long as it isn't creepy uncle day.

Are you calling me a creepy uncle? ;<)

Yeah there is a lot of shady stuff out there and one need the wisdom to know the difference. Actually time tells the truth of the merits of a business or venture I do not buy a lot of the hype.

Some tokens do nothing for 3.5 years, and something for 6 months. That is all.

Glad to see you got your breakfast as expected 🥰. Turns out it’s International men’s day we will be celebrating which is next Sunday…still have enough time to think of something nice to gift my husband.

International men's day? What do the men get? :D

I think we evaluate crypto prices by our experience with traditional market prices and that is probably a mistake as there are many other variables to consider here.
First, many or almost all tokens have been created with no traditional market regulations which means, they may be ruled just by anything their creators decided.
Second, some of the projects have quite a low cap which means a strong hand move can change the whole game. Third, there are many speculators who don't even know how to speculate, compared to traditional markets where many ppl lose money speculating but they reach a point where they give up as their losses hurt. Here in Hive, you can keep losing while trading as you can always generate some more income by posting and curating. Also, speculator's weight in Hive is bigger than what they have in Tradfi.

I could go on as there are many other variables affecting every single one of the cryptos and they are also all correlated when Big Brother aka BTC moves up or down.

I believe in the crypto industry as a global and Hive as a project the same way I am also confident in other crypto projects I am more or less involved in. Some may not evolve as I expect, but I have a clear expectation of a growing value as time goes by.

Maybe it's because Hive has its own ecosystem that it isn't mooning yet. We have our own stablecoin in HBD. Because of this, we don't have to interact with other coins much. The way Hive is earned is also unique, so that might turn some people off. What I do hope and believe though, is that Hive will increase a lot. Slow and steady wins the race.

The best Father's Day present would have been, HIVE going 50-100% today.

I already ordered a few manga books as a gift for my upcoming birthday. So I don't expect more gifts soon. But maybe Hive will give us a gift for christmas? A dollar+ Hive would be nice.

I hope at some point, it will be difficult for the dumpers to get back in significantly, because price will hold up, because people won't want to sell.

At some point you have to SELL. Like hodling forever does not sound like profit. In fact if you dont take profit out you are missing. Imagine those who sold BTC at 60k, they are happy with choice. If they wait for bitcoin to become 100K they would miss out on life. Nobody wants to be rich at 70 when caretakers would be cashing in.

That is an interesting talk about the jaw. I never heard that before.

As for Hive price lagging, I think it's due to the lack of users. I don't think there are many people who understand what Hive is and it's kind of hard to really pump that much during a bear market. Sure, we can move towards a bull market but I don't expect that to happen until the BTC ETF approval happens (which is only a matter of time).

Hi Taraz,

happy fathersday ;-)

Jaw lock and jaw tension is something I recognize as well. This week I want to write a post about what our body tells us. From time to time my jaws getting really tense and teeth grinding is a result as well.

My perspective is, that I don't want to let go of something I am not aware of yet or maybe I am 🤔. I am biting into it, holding on to something.

Maybe it's something to look into :-)

Cheers and have great day!

I will be so happy to have Hive at 50% or 100% plus
I know how happy people will be on here

What you do on international man day?? Happy to see that you enjoy.great
