AAA review: (500) Days of Summer (2009), Romantic Comedy Movie of Telling How to Love

in #aaa5 years ago (edited)

In love, we never remember our love in the order in which things happen, especially when we want to review a badly failed relationship. We are more inclined to start recalling from a recent quarrel or sweetness, and then constantly withdrawing and entering between those good times and the pain of leaving. People always say that everything can start again, but we didn’t know that this sentence was in vain. “500 Days of Summer” is about a movie like this. Some viewers watched the movie. They were puzzled and confused about the repeated jumps of the film, but this is the state of true love memories: "The first day, the 249th day." Unlike the traditional narrative, the film has arranged the love of the main characters Summer and Tom in an orderly arrangement in front of the audience, but this is just to make the story more realistic. The hero, Tom, remembers his love and remembers a series of joys and sorrows with Summer. But unfortunately, Summer is the kind of woman who is particularly upset. She loves you with one heart and one mind, but she does not want to have a marriage with you.

Summer played by Zoeey Deschanel is such a woman. She is an independent and free individual, and we can't imagine her attachment to anyone. When he met Summer, Tom looked at Summer inadvertently and fell in love with her. It can be said that this is Tom's good fortune. At same time, it can be said that this is Tom's bad luck. She is sweet, smart, kind, but it makes Tom unpredictable. On the one hand, Sumer is always honest with Tom, but on the other hand, Summer is a very assertive girl, and Tom can't fully own her. In romantic love, she only believes in what she wants to believe. This is why this film is so attractive. Tom's view of love may not be as profound as those of romantic poets, but he is doing the work of writing greeting cards for others every day, and people even suspect that he may start to believe in the cards he has written. Surprisingly, Tom really got the job of writing a greeting card and became loved.

Every day he writes a sentence similar to "Love is a rose, and you are its petals." Then it is sent to the client. Summer is the new assistant to the owner of the greeting card company. Although Summer liked Tom's looks and musical tastes from the beginning, the freshness brought by these things will someday dissipate over time. Can a man accept a woman who just likes him now and can't give him a sense of eternal stability? This movie is a delightful comedy romance, which is full of creativity. It is a story about Tom's game with reality. Director Marc Webb seems to be making great efforts to make up for the inadequacies of other love movies, trying to tell this special love story. The film shows not the despair of reality, but the mockery and playfulness of reality. The film transforms between black and white, with the music that pervades love, stimulating every man's desire for love. And many people like Tom always reach their inaccessible fantasy.

In this film, the whole movie is full of unique mystery. Perhaps because the audience has always believed and expected that Tom can finally touch Summer and propose marriage to her, but this movie is not in the traditional Hollywood love routine. The film tells us that love is impermanent. Anything can happen in the relationship. The kaleidoscope time structure broke the shackles of the three love scripts and featured romantic and free love. Men love to teach women how to be in love, and if a woman wants to fascinate a man, then she only needs to play his student wisely and listen to him. After graduating, Tom wanted to be an architect, not a poet who wrote greeting cards. He and Summer have the same love for Los Angeles. He sat on the upstairs to paint the city's buildings, as if to take her through a journey of architecture. This also makes the film very interesting, not because the audience sees the beautiful architectural paintings hand-painted by Tom, but because in traditional movies, we rarely see men and women fall in love or break up for their common aesthetic values. This is not a typical love movie. It is not a love result, but a process of love.
