This could be a great solution, although it's a little sad that we need to use technology to solve problems that used to be handled by families and communities, organically.
I like the idea of the QR codes. It reminds me of the mall cops I've seen riding around on their segways and scanning codes each hour to prove they've made their rounds.

From what I understand, joining an AA meeting is joining a community. The guys living in the transitional housing that @nobutsd runs are probably more like a family.
