TheScubaSherpa | Whale Shark Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Everybody!

I shot this video while snorkeling with Whale Sharks in La Paz, Mexico!
I had the opportunity to snorkel with 6 that day, but this one was the largest out of all of them, measuring out at 24ft long!
Enjoy!

Whale Sharks are the largest known species of fish, some growing to be longer than 30ft and heavier than 20 tons. They are one of only three different filter-feeding sharks, enjoying plankton, krill, and other tiny life forms floating near the surface.

By location, whale sharks can be seen throughout the world's oceans and despite their size, have never posed a threat to snorkelers or divers.

Thanks guys!
Keep it Steemy

Awesome video, great post! Happy Summer (Northern Hemisphere)

Thanks! They really are, it was an amazing experience.

Ah man, they are so beautiful, you are really lucky to see so many. I also snorkelled with one once in Mozambique a long time ago on the way to our dive site. Would love to see more but they are pretty rare these days.

That is a great video. Enough to get your heart rate going and make your mother nervous! Hope you can get out there and do it again soon!

Wow, this one was really close! We managed to snorkel twice with Whale Sharks during our 2 weeks diving around Utila Honduras but never so close. The next big thing is seeing one while diving :)
