Steemit And Mainstream Adoption In Africa And Especially Nigeria!

The number of Nigerians on steemit is rapidly growing and as @gavvet shows constantly with his map-like statistics, Africa is starting to hold sway on steemit.

Cryptocurrency has always been in existence in Africa but like is common in many developing countries, there is usually fear, misconception, misinformation when it comes to blockchain or crypto-activities and in many cases limited know-how, on how to get into the world of crypto.

Unlike popular beliefs, Africa also holds the perfect type of audience for blockchain and cryptocurrency and steemit is easily becoming the gateway into this world and very easily taking the place of bitcoin as a more potent face for cryptocurrency.

A major setback to mainstream adoption of the internet, crypto and in today's case steemit, however, is living conditions and especially financial inequality. Access to internet is not as easy as it is in more developed country. People get internet data bundles and these things are expensive, so there is need to preserve data and make it last long. This is not very effective for people who want to be on steemit daily.

Social amenities like electricity can be a thing of luxury in more rural regions and in many parts of the urban regions, power is limited. In some case, it is "one day power and the next day no power"; so you basically, you'll have power for as much as 175 days in an entire year.

Too, corruption does exist and many imbibe these ways, so an average African is cautious of things that they come across on the internet and have to make in-depth research, to be fully convinced of the authenticity of a website.

Many live on hope and to hope non-stop becomes tiring, thus, when a new opportunity arises especially on the internet, there is a tendency to regard it as "another false hope".

All these setbacks however, can't rule away the fact that there are many talents in Africa and that steemit has a role in discovering these talents and bringing them to fullest potency.

The number of Africans on steemit, grows at a steady pace! More recently, there have been many Nigerians flocking in too. We know of @giantbear a teacher, who brought almost her entire class from South Africa on steemit. These are very young kids ranging from 14 to 18 and they are here on steemit constantly exploring their creativity under #gedwriting. We also know of @onetree from South Africa and a number of Nigerians endeavoring to bring about change to their communities! Thus, we offer a hub for them right here; to gather them together; strengthen and support them and make steemit growth a reality in Africa.

We implore every African to follow this account! We want to know you! Let's discuss! Let's help bring out the best version of you, out of you; so that you can bring in more of your family and friends on steemit. The time is now!

We will be looking out for quality content and celebrating it. We will be showcasing it, resteeming it, flaunting it and the sky is the limit. Let's bring Africa a good name through steemit and Naijans, "you can do it!"

Great of you! Awesome. Will follow you so we can get to visit you soon. Remember the tag #afro-naija in case you get to talk about Africa

I think Africans are uniquely supportive of each other, and Steemit has so much to offer Africa. I think this is a wonderful initiative. I have recently helped one of my staff members, to open an account. He experiences all the problems you outlined above. Other South African Steemit members that I can think of are @themagus @jacor @naomi.louise and @sweetpea @dube @yogidream.scapes @thatguyjono

Sweet effort here by mentioning many! Will check them all out and follow too so we can access their posts more often and encourage them. Please remember #afro-naija. Will inform the others!

I hope to go to beautiful Africa someday and see where we all came from... Keep up the good work.

I read a Nigerian Steemers post the other day- sorry can't recall his name but pretty sure I followed him- anyhow he was stating how you could easily earn enough on Steemit to earn a good living in Africa. Very cool indeed and if I lived in Africa I'd be taking some hikes and posting up pics of that awesome continent and it's people.

Making life better for folks around the world- another reason to love Steemit!
