LikeAfrica - African or Africant

in #africa8 years ago (edited)

“It’s in your hands to make the world a better place.”

This is what Nelson Mandela said during his 90th birthday celebrations when he was appealing to all citizens to rise up, do something positive and help change Africa for the better.

I took this message personally and started LikeAfrica, a social initiative focusing on the following;

  1. Visually displaying all the great aspects of Africa
  2. Promoting social initiatives in Africa
  3. Highlight income generating ideas that are sustainable, as majority of Africans live in poverty.
  4. Grow the LikeAfrica community of Africans, currently over 40 283 likes (as of writing this article) - see demographics below;
  5. Empower and create 'African's', as ambassadors, that that can maintain/promote LikeAfrica's initiatives within their own African country with full support.
  6. Create a sustainable passive income to support ambassadors and initiatives. (Up until now LikeAfrica has been fully funded by myself)

How can Steemit users assist in building a passive income for LikeAfrica?

  1. Upvote this post, all steem power will be used to create passive income - that would be awesome & sustainable :-)
  2. Calling all steemit writers that would like to write about LikeAfrica and support our initiatives or writers that would like to donate a percentage of steem awards from their own posts.
  3. Other ideas welcome, please post your comments.

Great post and idea. From first hand experience I can say Africa is a great continent to visit with wonderfull people. In my opinion sustainable tourism is one of the ways to improve the conditions in Africa. Go and be enchanted.

Agreed, Africa is an amazing place, a hidden gem with many cultures and experiences. A really cost-effective continent to travel too. Have you visited any countries on the continent?

Yes, I have been to places like Morocco, Gambia, Senegal, Egypt and South Africa. Would like to see much more though.
