I'm building the @hivepeople account for two reasons:
- To constantly market and educate people on Twitter about Hive.
- To onboard brand new users to Hive via Twitter.
I didn't plan on doing this, and tbh, if Justin Sun hadn't done his hostile takeover, I doubt if any of this would exist.
Anyway, I realized that the @hivepeople account needed a personalized GIF to show up at the bottom of all posts, so I created that today as well as another tutorial in the HIVENOOB series. The latest tutorial covers the topic of private keys.
I used three free tools to create this GIF: https://artbreeder.com/ (I designed the humans with AI), gimp.org (free + opensource) and Giphy.com (free, online).
I'd like to show you how I did this.
The first step was creating the people using artbreeder.com. I've been obsessed with Artbreeder for about a month. Here are some humans I designed with Artbreeder's Machine Learning GAN:
In this photo, you can see the two different faces that I bred together to produce the black-haired, bearded man.
You can create transgender people as well, by editing the genes. For this one I started with an image of a woman and I added facial hair.
It's sounds crazy talking about designing people, but that's what I spent most of the day doing. AI is going to destroy the modeling industry for sure. The re-combining of faces is super addictive.
Ok, the next step in making the GIF above was to create the file in Gimp and cut out the two heads.
I didn't have the animation in mind before I started this. I literally, just went with a feeling.
So, for each frame, I saved a jpeg file with many layers. I moved the images a little bit then saved another file. I did this 25 times. Here are some of the still images:
After I created 25 images, I then went to Giphy.com and logged into my Stellabelle account. I hit the "create" button and selected the 25 images. Giphy then compiled them all together to create my GIF. I can change the speed of the animation as well. After this, you click on the GIF and it gives you the links to the GIFs. You can also save these GIFs to share them on Twitter, etc.
That's basically it. I think it took me over an hour to create this, tbh, I never pay attention to the clock when I am doing stuff like this.

This is great. I love this idea and the gif. I will like to know how you used the Gimp. I want to learn the app though.
Gimp works a lot like Photoshop. It has layers, so i cut out the heads and added a black background.

you can create gif directly on gimp. Just open all the images as a layer and then save as gif.
