Living Again With Horses And The Wonderful Donkey

in #animals3 years ago

It kind of sucks sometimes, no longer having a camera. As much as I love being in and enjoying the moment, I also would like to catch a few of them in photos. Just now, I have come in after being with the two horses that graze on the land. They are a mother and daughter and they were here when I first moved on. I love having horses and around and of course the donkey who I have built a special bond with.

(So yes the photos in this post are from a few months back, I would love to be sharing more recent ones, but I have to wait for a camera first before I can do that.)

One of the horses is always tied up to a tree, while the other horse, which is the mother ,gets to move freely. I always feel so bad for the daughter and we do try and move her around the land so that she has enough to eat. But everything is so dry now, that it is difficult to find fresh food for her.

So my friend and I decided to go and get her some fresh canar, the stuff that is still very green and soft on top. They love it and we just so happened to cut a load yesterday, as we are using it to build a natural wall, or more like a screen. So that we gain more privacy, from the road that runs alongside the property.

The daughter with her foal, this photo was taken when I first moved onto the land. Her foal has since been sold on.

So off we went with a light to find her some juicy pieces of canar. The mother horse followed us, super curious about what we are doing. It' a clear night and under the moonlight sky, this magnificent white horse, looks so majestic, she practically glows. The sight of her, takes my breathe away.

It is an image, I would so love to capture.

I awoke, one morning, to her outside my window, such a wonderful sight to behold.

She follows us, as we make our way back to her daughter, but stops on the terrace above and watches us, as we lay out the canar for her. She is even more magnificent looking, on the terrace above, watching over us.

Her daughter is also beautiful, she is fully brown and more timid. The people who claim ownership over her, do not treat her well. But she has grown used to us and now we can pet her and sing to her and she calls out to me whenever I pass by.

I have always loved horses, but it is only in the last few years that I have gotten to spend time with them. And I am so grateful that I get to have this experience now. To live amongst them and the wonderful donkey. It brings me so much joy to see my girls interact with them and them with my girls.

I have dreams of taking them with me when I leave here, rescuing them and giving them the life that they deserve. But if I take them, they will only be replaced and the cycle continues. It's hard to know what to do, but for now at least they are here and I can help to look after them.

At least they receive love from you and the girls. Hope we'll some day be in a planet where animals and humans can be free

I really hope that day comes soon @rukeros xxxxx

I am glad you could help these animals, I can imagine how the mother horse felt while looking at you feed the daughter. These are the things that keep our humanity in check and it shouldn't be about humans just caring for humans, the animals deserve love.

Horses are beautiful animals, I feel the aura of royalty in them whenever I come across one; they are unique.
I had a funny experience with a donkey and I will share it with you some other time.

Yes horses have such a wonderful energy. I look forward to hearing about your Donkey story @george-dee xxx

It is so wonderful having horses in your life, wonderful that your girls have befriended them too! We have a mother and her two daughter living in the pasture across the road. They are very friendly and I love seeing them most everyday. Funny they have a huge pasture but they often just hang out in this little corralled area where they were fed hay during the winter - perhaps they stay there to get out of the bugs that hang out in the grass - we have so many mosquitoes up here. I do hope you get your camera soon - loved seeing your photos!

Thanks @porters, I really do love sharing the land with these horses. Sending love your way xxxxx

I miss having horses. The smell just gets me and I love snuggling up to their flank and breathing in deep. My neighbours have horses (all well cared for) and I keep meaning to ask if they'll take me riding. I haven't been in years so if I did I probably wouldn't be able to walk for a week.

I love the smell of horses, especially their noses xxxxx

My horse had really big flopply lips and you could say 'kiss' and it'd flop it's lips around at you. So kissable.

awww that's so lovely. I love horses and donkeys. There is something about them. Donkeys are gas. One lived next to me called Humpfries and he was a grumpy fecker and would bite you if you went near him.

Donkeys remind me a bit of cats, they will do as they please and can be quite stubborn, but also they have so much love to give Thanks @blanchy xxxxxx
