I'm sure the thing was in the camera, because many do not understand what you did :)) I have seen and feel same when I do street photography ... lot look me and they not understand why I photography on the street this shadow or bird or there faces.
But all this normal... this are this People who have not use lot cameras and they think that it's very bad.
I try not think lot when I do street photography ...then I not see this faces or this words when someone say no..no you can not :))) .... but I make photo and I smile ... I walk 10 m and I start make same more ....no problem for me. :))
