Ancistrus: Bristle Nose Pleco
As some of you might know, I also love my tropical aquariums. One of my favourite fish is the Ancistrus, commonly known as the Bristle Nose Pleco.
It is easy to see where this name come from, the mature males has some nice Bristles growing on it's nose. As you can see the Bristles even has branches.
These fish loves to eat algae, and are good cleaners of fish tanks.
I have a number of Ancistrus's, and even a few Albinos. Below is a Male and Female Albino Ancistrus, as you can see the Female does not have any Bristles on the nose. (Females can have bristles, but they will be much shorter and mostly just around the mouth.
I am quite happy, mine is breeding and I have quite a number of small ones, which I plan to sell at a stage.
You can read more about the Ancistrus fish by clicking on the link.
I hope you enjoyed the post and that you have a wonderful day.
