Planning an adventure/Planificando una aventura
- Hello Hive community, photography and travel lovers! Today I bring you an adventure through the Argentinean Litoral. I'm new in the Hive community and I want to share with you this experience. If you ever visit Argentina, I recommend you to do it!
We did the trip as a family and by vote we decided to go by land because the road is full of places to visit, from hot springs, native communities, national parks, ruins of the first Jesuit missions, mines of semiprecious stones, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
At the end of the route is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, the Iguazu Falls.
I live in Buenos Aires, it is about 1300km and 15 hours driving.
*Hola comunidad Hive, amantes de la fotografía y de los viajes! hoy les traigo una aventura por el Litoral Argentino. Soy nuevo en la comunidad Hive y quiero compartir con ustedes esta experiencia. Si algún dia visitan Argentina, les recomiendo que lo hagan!
El viaje lo hicimos en familia y por votación decidimos ir por vía terrestre ya que el camino está repleto de lugares para conocer, desde aguas termales, comunidades originarias, parques nacionales, ruinas de las primeras misiones jesuíticas, minas de piedras semipreciosas, etc. etc. etc.
Al final del recorrido se encuentra una de las 7 maravillas naturales del mundo, las Cataratas del Iguazú.
Yo vivo en Buenos Aires, son unos 1300km y 15 horas conduciendo .
Primera parada! Un pueblo detenido en el tiempo: La Cruz
- As I am the only driver, I decided to make a stop at the halfway point. Route 14 is a challenge, as it is the main artery of Mercosur, but it is worth every kilometre.
Halfway along I found a village frozen in time, where hospitality abounds. This place is called La Cruz and is located in the province of Corrientes. If you are planning a trip to Iguazu, I recommend spending a night in La Cruz.
The place is perfect to rest and recharge your batteries. I will show you a bit of it as it is worth a visit.
Como soy el único conductor, decidí hacer una parada a mitad de camino. La ruta 14 es una ruta desafiante, es la arteria principal del Mercosur, pero vale la pena cada kilometro recorrido.
A mitad de camino encontré un pueblo detenido en el tiempo, donde la hospitalidad abunda. Ese lugar se llama La Cruz y se encuentra en la provincia de Corrientes. si tienen pensado viajar a Iguazú les recomiendo pasar una noche en La Cruz.
El lugar es perfecto para descansar y recargar energías. Les muestro un poco ya que es digno de visitar.

Se encuentra a la vera del Rio Paraná y el verde es el color que predomina 😍
- The next day we continue our journey to Misiones, where the Iguazu National Park and the Iguazu Falls are located.
Arriving in the province of Misiones we combine with the national route number 12, a route that crosses the whole province of Misiones. It is necessary to have a little more patience in this section, the towns are closer and closer and the speed must be reduced and together with the traffic lights in some sectors, they make it very slow. It is a beautiful route, crossing huge rivers, jungle, hydroelectric dams, etc. etc., I recommend it.
Al otro día continuamos con el camino hacia Misiones, donde se encuentra el parque nacional Iguazú y las Cataratas del Iguazú.
llegando a la provincia de Misiones combinamos con la ruta nacional numero 12. Una ruta que atraviesa toda la provincia de Misiones. Hay que tener un poco mas de paciencia en este tramo, los pueblos son cada vez mas cercanos y la velocidad debe ser reducida y junto a los semáforos en algunos sectores, la vuelven muy lenta. Es una ruta Hermosa, se cruzan ríos enormes, selva, represas Hidroeléctricas, etc. etc., se las recomiendo.
Parque Nacional Iguazú y Selva Paranaense
- We arrived at our destination!!! after a long journey we arrived at the hotel inside the Iguazú National Park.
Today only 7,8½ of the Paranaense rainforest remains, 80½ is in Argentina, in the province of Misiones, where the yerba mate plant is cultivated. It is the only region on the planet where it grows because the soil and the climate are suitable for its development. It is used to produce the yerba mate for a typical infusion of our country, the MATE.
It is impressive how the rivers delimit the province of Misiones with our Mercosur neighbours, showing the deforestation and the advance of soya. I am not going to get polemic with the development, but if we break the balance with nature we are going to end up with ourselves, the climate is a great witness of this. During our stay in the park the sky was always grey, it was the smoke of the Amazon burning on the Brazilian side.
You will notice in the pictures how the sun always hides behind a faint mist.
llegamos al destino!!! después de un largo viaje arribamos al hotel que está dentro del parque Nacional Iguazú.
Hoy solo queda el 7,8½ de la selva Paranaense, el 80½ se encuentra en la Argentina, en la provincia de Misiones, en ella se cultiva la planta de yerba mate. Es la única región en el planeta donde crece ya que el suelo y el clima son los adecuados para su desarrollo, con ella se produce la yerba para una infusión típica de nuestro país, el MATE.
es impresionante como los ríos delimitan a la provincia de Misiones con nuestros vecinos del Mercosur, dejando ver la desforestación y el avance de la soja. No voy a ponerme polémico con el desarrollo, pero si rompemos el equilibrio con la naturaleza vamos a terminar con nosotros mismos, el clima es un gran testigo de esto. Durante nuestra estadía en el parque el cielo siempre estaba gris, era el humo del amazonas quemándose del lado brasilero.
Notaran en las fotos como el sol siempre se esconde detrás de una niebla tenue.
Iguazu National Park/Parque nacional Iguazú
- For the entrance to the national park you have to pay a fee, or you can stay in the hotel inside the park and the entrance to the park is included in the cost of the hotel. If you have the possibility, I recommend it, as you can access the footbridges where the falls are located, the train station that takes you to the highest waterfall, the Devil's Throat, and have a view of the falls from your room.
Remember to leave the windows closed and locked as small monkeys may steal your food 😝, no kidding!
Para el ingreso al parque nacional se debe pagar una tarifa, o también está la posibilidad de transcurrir la estadía en el hotel que está dentro del parque y la entrada al parque queda incluida en el costo del hotel. Si tienen la posibilidad lo recomiendo, ya que se puede acceder a las pasarelas donde se encuentran las cataratas, a la estación de trenes que te lleva al salto mas alto que es la garganta del diablo y de tener la vista a las cataratas desde la habitación.
Recuerden dejar las ventanas cerradas y con seguro ya que pequeños monos pueden robarles la comida 😝, no es broma!

Iguazú Falls/Cataratas del Iguazú

- With a total of 245 waterfalls of up to 80 meters high, the Iguazu Falls are listed as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, are on the border with Brazil and is shared with the neighbouring country, being ours the most beautiful (fact) 😛
The Iguazu River, which rises in Mato Grosso, from the confluence of the Rio Grande and Rio Paraiba, plunges into the Mesopotamian plateau generating these unique waterfalls on the planet, which protects one of the largest underground reservoirs of fresh water in the world.
The upper walkway takes you to the San Martin waterfall:
Con un total de 245 saltos de hasta 80 metros de altura, las cataratas del Iguazú son catalogadas como unas de las 7 maravillas naturales del mundo, están en el limite con Brasil y es compartida con el país vecino, siendo el nuestro el mas lindo (dato) 😛
El Rio Iguazú que nace en el Mato grosso, de la confluencia del Rio Grande y el Rio Paraíba, se desploma en la meseta Mesopotámica generando estos saltos de agua únicos en el planeta, el cual resguarda uno de los reservorios subterráneos de agua dulce mas grandes del mundo.
El recorrido por la pasarela superior te lleva al salto San Martin:
Devil's Throat /Garganta del diablo
- To get there you have to take a very picturesque train, on the way you will come across animals such as the Coatí, which can be friendly or not so friendly, we must not feed them as they are wild animals and can hurt us in the attempt. The journey is very quiet and at the end you will find the footbridge that takes you to the most spectacular waterfall of all.
A fall of 80 metres high, with 1500 cubic metres of water falling per second.

Para llegar hay que tomar un tren muy pintoresco, en el camino te cruzas con animales como el Coatí que pueden ser amigables o no tanto, no hay que alimentarnos ya que son animales salvajes y pueden lastimarnos en el intento. El viajes es muy tranquilo y al final se encuentra la pasarela que nos lleva al salto mas espectacular de todos.
Una caída de 80 metros de altura, con 1500 metros cúbicos de agua que caen por segundo.

Triple frontier/Triple frontera
- Very close to the national park is the city of Puerto Iguazu, it is very quiet, the heat invites us to have a cool drink at any time of the year 😉.
Here we can find the border shared by 3 countries. Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil united at one point.
The atmosphere fills you with energy, the nature makes Puerto Iguazu a unique place on the Argentinean coast.
Muy cerca del parque nacional se encuentra la ciudad de Puerto Iguazú, esta es muy tranquila, el calor nos invita a tomar algo fresco en toda época del año 😉.
en ella podemos encontrar la frontera compartida por 3 paises. Argentina, Paraguay y Brasil unidos en un punto.
El ambiente te llena de energía, la naturaleza vuelve a Puerto Iguazú un lugar único en el litoral Argentino.
