What a day it was. I'm going to spare you the gory details of the match, if you want a vivid image of how it went down, you could scroll down to the highlights of the game at the bottom but if you're a fan and would like to delve into my optimistic cum obsessive views, please read on.
Let me start by saying if you missed this game, you've missed out on a modern day Wenger master class, it possesed all the hallmarks of a a hungry Arsenal: Start shaky, grow into the match, score goals in quick succession, concede a cheap goal then steady the ship. Slot in a swashbuckling Aaron Ramsey who left with the first matchball of his career and bam!
It was crisp free flowing football from the get go.
Match Summary:
I was absolutely nervous at the beginning, I expected a victory due to our imperilous form at home but I kinda envisaged more of a tight gritty game as compared to the masterclass we were served.
First Half
We started a little shaky at the back, with Mustafi nearly conceding possesion to Bolasie after he was pressured, he played a near short pass to Cech who cleared it upfield and that's just about all the Away team could muster in the first half and by the time the half time whistle blew, we were 4 goals to the good and coasting.
Aaron Ramsey helped himself to a quickfire double sandwitching a Koscielney low header,(I wish he let Auba score) but the Gabonese strijer not being one to be left out of the party also scored a goal from a clear offside position and what a beauty it was, It had Thierry Henry written all over it.
Second Half:
The second part of the match started with the Onus on Everton to do something and sure enough they managed to get one goal back, it was nothing but a consolation as Ramsey put the final touches on the game by netting his hatrick and the team's 5th of the evening. It was just so damn beautiful
And in case you missed the action: here's a little something for you
Stay blessed and love the Arsenal! #COYG
Lmao. We're going to eat Spurs
An end-of-season top 3 of City, pool and Chelsea is on (ie. in that order). Arsenal overtaking Spurs (St Totteringham day) is something you can almost take for granted. Then, to pip Utd for that last CL qualification spot would be pretty damned hilarious. And it's hardly impossible. The big 6 hitting form and finishing strong is hardly unheard of.
But with Sanchez on enormous wages comes enormous pressure. Yes, he scored today but if that form's as short-lived as the form of Pogba, Lukaku and Mkhitrayan (as a Utd player, that is), Utd could be dropping points again soon.
I'd love it (as a pool fan) if Arsenal caught Utd, any day of the week, but with the Sanchez-Mkhitaryan adding extra spice, the end of the season's still going to be fascinating (even though City look odds-on to walk the title).
Wenger can't miss qualifying for the CL two season in a row? ;)
Well there's still the Europa league route, which I suspect we'll have to use as the season progresses. There's a couple of critical away fixtures that will determine our fate; the away games against United and Spurs(spurs coming up next week) and the home fixture against City in two weeks time. If we manage to close the gap on them guys through those fixtures, we may qualify thriugh the league table, however, if we drop points against them, I suspect Wenger will focus his attention on the Europa League
Aaaaaaaaaaaa Ramsey Hat-trick!
consider yourself dead Jajajajajajaja Go Gunners!
Saturday was the beginning of a new era at AFC!!! COYG!
