The Earth without art, is just Eh – A visit to the National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Hello steemians!

Happy Valentins Day! How is your weekend going on? I have a wonderful week, everything goes perfect, even though it rains a lot, I have sunshine in my life. :))

As I said in a previous post, I decided to make more posts about Bucharest and what can you see here. Today I am going to share with you my experience at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest. It was not hard to choose this museum, because until now I never visited, even if I heard good stuff about it. So on Saturday, I went there with my best friend, hopefully, she will join Steemit asap, fingers crossed.

The National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest is located in the most expensive administrative building in the entire world, Palace of Parliament, built during Communism regime. The construction began in 1984 and it was complete finalized in 1997. I find it pretty cool that most of this building is built with Romanian materials. The National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest was inaugurated 14 years ago.

It is located in the heart of the city so the transportation is not a problem, but if you want to visit the museum you should enter on the B3 gateway from 13 Septembrie Boulevard.

The museum is opened from Wednesday to Sunday, it’s not that crowded so you can easily go whenever you want as long as you respect the schedule. If you want to visit in summertime, the museum is open starting 12:00 pm. Of course, if it is a national celebration or legal holiday the museum will be closed, so be sure to check these aspects before your visit.

The admission is cheap, an adult ticket cost around 4$, and I you are a student it’s only 1 $.

The museum has four floors, five with the ground floor. Our visit started at the ground floor after we got our bags verified by the security.

The collection is called MARSHALLING YARD. Also here you can see sculptures, paintings and some engravings.

Here I liked the most this ABC, it’s so colorful and cute, I love it.

I also like the new Centre for Documentation and Research of Visual Culture, which was inaugurated three months ago, in memoriam of Mihai Oroveanu, the former General Director of the museum.

After visiting the ground floor we took the elevator to 4th floor.

At the fourth floor there is a terrace and a café where I drank a great lemonade mixed with tea, called On Lemon - Matchabata, it is a mix between green tea, apple, lemon and lime, without sugar because this Friday I am celebrating two weeks without sugar, probably I will write about it. It’s a challenge created by @guyfawkes4-20.

Can’t wait to visit the museum also on a summer time, to enjoy better the views.

Also on this floor we can see the exhibition called Selfie automation. It’s so interactive, because you can become an actor and play an important role among the puppets. I filmed also some short videos, maybe I will make only one video and post it on Dtube. This exposition was created especially for the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2016. I have a tradition with my sister, we visited Venice for this event twice already. After Venice the exhibition traveled to Netherlands, Iasi and now you can see it in Bucharest until 01.04.2018.

My favorite exhibition was the one who belonged to Gheorghe Rasovszky. Here you can see his work from the last 48 years. His work is so complex from paintings, drawings to videos, sound and installation, as you can see below in the pictures. The artist often appears in his work in different forms.

How many of you agree with the artist regarding this?

This one is my favourite piece because it emphasizes that we are all human and we should be equal!

The second floor has three important themes: writing, walls and mirrors. We can see the work of Wanda Mihuleac, starting from the seventies to the nineties. I wish I had my sister with me to explain me better.

On the first floor, you can see the works of Ion Bitzan, one of the greatest artist of his generation. Here you can see lots of paintings dedicated to Nicolae Ceaușescu and Elena Ceaușescu. There you can see his abstract art, but also the realism paintings.

The Earth Without Art is just Eh.

All in all, it was a great Saturday and I look forward to the next visit in May when I will see another exhibition. Back then my sister will be in Romania, so she can visit the museum with me. My sister is also an artist and curator and she will explain me better the concepts.

Hope you enjoyed my post.
Best regards,
@alexandraioana26

Great post...very informative😀

I am glad you like it! Thank you so much @xaero1! Have a wonderful time! 😀

Nice post, great coverage of the art museum. It has been a while since I've been to a nice art museum like that. I remember fondly visiting the Orsay in Paris many years ago. It is so much fun to visit such places in person and it is nice to see the pictures of your visit.

I am glad you liked it! I visited Orsay too 3 years ago, I must check my picture, maybe I will make another post! Have a wonderful day!

This was absolutely an over the top awesome post! I loved the way you covered every aspect of the museum from top to bottom.

The building is opulent, every single square inch. It is not the building, but what it contains that really turns my head.

the caricatures, the whimsey, the perfectly cataloged statues and sculptures. Honestly? I am speechless over this museum.

I have been to many wonderful museums, but your tour, its contents...

Life is one big canvas of wonder, but he seems to have captured it all in here.

Tip! Worthy!

I am glad you liked it! Maybe when you will be back to Romania, Bucharest, you will visit this wonderful museum too! Thank you so much, Denise! I really appreciate your wonderful words! kisses @dswigle!
